JoeRudi26
I'm in the same situation with the NLWest. ARZ, COL, SFG, and SDP are all pretty much .500 (53 GP). That's likely realistic ... and fun. SD will likely slip. LAD are 6.5 GB and well under .500, so I need to look at them and see if some player ratings are out of whack ... but they may not be b/c Bob is doing great with them. They may just be waiting until Sept to rip our hearts out. Actually, with Thome coming, the Dodgers will probably be the monster they should be in my franchise. I lose Garland to them too. With Scherzer still out for 25 more games, I might in sheep dit. Sounds interesting. Will be looking for those updates. :spiteful:
CircleChange11
Does anone think that what team you're using has an affect on how the AI influences the records of the teams in your division? I ask because when I've used good teams, the division is usually "packed" and when I use a mediocre team, it seems to be the same. Has anyone used a good team and ran away with the division or used a mediocre team and hae a division opponent win 95+ games?

Honestly, who knows what "habits" the CPU is programmed to have. I mean, how in the hell could it be coincidence, or even luck, that I can't break even and that this whole division is at or right around .500 for the entire season, and not to mention with a talented packed Angels team? It's an interesting thought, that's for sure.
Maestro23
Dang Jay, KC's just got your number man. Looks like Meche was in the zone. Good luck next game. Like CC said, "Your streak is going the wrong way".

Maestro23
Good win Jay. Nice start for Cahill. Wow, no homeruns, extra base hits or stolen bases. Just station-to-station baseball. Man, Texas trying to put together a little run. Good luck with the rubber game of the series.
JoeRudi26
Good win Jay. Nice start for Cahill. Wow, no homeruns, extra base hits or stolen bases. Just station-to-station baseball. I had mentioned it earlier ( a page or so back), but with the way the season has gone, I have absolutely no room to gamble trying to go with the long ball. With the way my sliders are set up, I've got to focus on each and every pitch. I'll get caught up in a steady diet of 79mph curveballs, and then get blown away with the fastball. Analyzing each at bat, knowing what the pitcher has thrown, and trying to stay on top of what he'll throw next is key. I love the challenge of the pitcher/batter confrontation, and if I had been able to get some room to breath at the top of the division, I have do doubt I would have produced more homeruns. It's all good though, as much luck as I've had by staying remotely close in this division, I'll take it anyway I can get it. :)
CircleChange11
Get shut down by Gil Meche, then light up Zack Grienke. I guess to stay consistent with the dynasty, I should congratulate Kyle Davies on his upcoming no-hitter. *grin* We have a phrase to describe things that don't make sense. Good thing I don't have a Mailbag Question section in this dynasty. I wouldn't have any answers.
JoeRudi26
I have a little time this afternoon, so I thought I'd upload a few pitch videos to give whoever is following an idea of what I'm facing in most games. Granted, in no way am I trying to say my sliders are the toughest challenge there is when trying to hit good pitchers, I just want to give people an idea of what I mean when I say I have to focus with each at bat. After almost every pitch, I hit the "Pitch History" button to try and figure out what pitches have already been thrown, how many times in the at bat, and what may be coming next. This is essential for a successful at bat. At least for me. The first video is a Zack Greinke 95 MPH fastball: Zack Greinke 70 MPH curveball: Zack Greinke 83 MPH Slider: Contact on Zack Greinke fastball: Closer Kyle Farnsworth 97 MPH 2 seam fastball: Closer Kyle Farnsworth 101 MPH fastball: Like I said, if I'd had more room to breath in the division, or just been so far out of the race that there was no point, I probably could have hit more homeruns, but there's no doubt my team batting average would have been much lower than it is. BTW, I'm in the process of trying to optimize the colors on my PC through the Nvidia Control Panel, so if the colors look a little off, that's why. CircleChange11
I use your sliders/datafile as well, and that's where the "difficulty" is. Sliders look exactly like fastballs until the last split second, and by then it's too late. Splitters/Sinkers are even WORSE. Changeups are very effective against hitters (without hitters eye on). What's amazing is you/me actually adapt to where you can hit reasonably well on these settings. I will say it is difficult to go a week without playing and then be able to "jump right back into it". I find myself hitting some balls well, but a lot of balls foul. Pitching is also a nightmare after a week off. The key is to sit on a certain pitch in a specific zone, until the count dictates you have to swing at something else. That's pretty much like real baseball. The best pitchers will throw you something that looks like it will be in that area, and the moves out (slider, 2-seamer, etc). Laying off high heat, especially high inside heat" is darn near impossible.

I'm a sucker for that 2 seam fastball down the heart of the plate, only to barely get a piece of it when it jumps outside. Very challenging (for me), but I'd rather have it this way instead of watching a slider float from one side of the screen to the other.

Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX + Like I said, I've been messing with desktop colors today, these videos look a little "pinkish" to me. I'll fix it. Still messing with desktop colors, getting a little better: [
MilkmanAnt
JR and CC, do you think it's more realistic than what a lot of people might use? Those heaters look like 200 mph! If so, I'd love to play with that. By the way, how is everyone in the West under .500? Good to see you hanging in there.
