CircleChange11
Most plans fall apart when emotion gets in the way. I can't remeber who the hitter was, but I gave up a HR to a LHB on a low and in curve. I was damned determined to "beat him at his own game", so I threw the same pitch next at bat ... with the same result. I had to fight myself not to "do it again", just to show him who's boss ... but I figured he already showed me that I wasn't. Besides getting a hitter out on the same pitch after he's launched it twice, doesn;t really count as "showing him".
JoeRudi26
It's also not a plus that you've got a RHP going against a team whose most dangerous threats are LHBs. I know Doug Davis does well against teams with a Lefty stocked lineup (SDP, ATL), but not so much against "mostly righties". It's "kinda good" that you got to face Farnsworth for multiple innings, because in a single inning he's hard to handle. He throws serious heat and is effectively wild. I know, man. I've got Beltre, Sweeney (who's always tough against me), and Gutierrez on the other side of the plate. I do agree Ichirio and Griffey are more dangerous, more consistently, but I'm going to go through the order a couple of times and see what happens. I'll have LHP Jerry Blevins on the back burner. If a player jacks one, the next time up I'll remember what I threw and where I threw it. I've been tempted and burned just as you described. I don't do it anymore, I've learned my lesson. JoeRudi26
little scared of griffey are we? Are the Rangers still on their streak? Griffey and Ichiro are not going to beat me. They're going to have to rely on somebody else. I fought back from 5 runs down and had this game won, but they tied it in the top of the ninth. In the bottom of the 9th, Jack Cust HIT THE TOP OF THE WALL IN RIGHT FIELD. I thought it was over. I wish I had ran the Boxscore Extractor, I used every pitcher on my team, and even tried to borrow one from the Mariners. What a game. I have to admit, even if I did lose, I cannot believe how good of a game MVP still plays. *Edit - Yep, I listed it under the update title. Texas has won 6 straight. <_<

MilkmanAnt
Mannn, I hate the top of the wall extra base hits! Never had it in that situation though. Don't slip up JR, SEA is right behind you. By the way, the "Sept. 3, 2009" in the linescore, did u touch it up or is that your actual font in-game?

Yeah, it actually still read August 30th or something. The games on the schedule are in the right order, but the dates are still a little off. I just do it that way to make things less confusing. CircleChange11
I'm trying to see a single advantage you have in this game, and other than being the home team ... I'm not seeing any .. you even lose the battle of the throwbacks. Powder blue always wins. Texas is either ... [1] On a really hot streak. [2] Due to lose. We'll see. I admit I didn't see Texas coming on as strong as they have, but when you look at their lineup, it's fierce, and their pitchers are better than perceptions. Keep battlin', brother. I admit I didn't see Texas coming on as strong as they have, but when you look at their lineup, it's firce, and their pitchers are better than perceptions. Keep battlin', brother. Now that you mention it, Oakland was one of the few teams that missed the powder blue era. (Can anyone name the rest of them? Orioles come to mind off the top of my head, Pirates, etc.) AND, I still can't believe (Phillies) powder blue and maroon was allowed to coexist on the same piece of clothing.. But yeah, man, I don't know. I can't complain about Texas being on a hot streak. As I've been saying for the last few weeks, whoever does it at the right time will be the one to get in. Come to think of it, I shouldn't be complaining about anything. By some miracle, I've been in this thing (and have had a legit reason to keep playing) from day 1, even at being a handful of games under .500. I have battled like you cannot imagine. I've tried different strategies, game plans, different ways to keep guys off base, different lineups, rotations, personnel shakeups, shakedowns, and on and on, just to somehow produce a winning chemistry. As much as I don't really want to admit it, I actually get pissed when I make a mistake, or lose a close game, and I'm "giddy" when I pull out the wins. I play my games pretty late at night, so I'm really the only one that "knows" about it. The bottom line is: I HAVE NO TALENT, NO POWER, NO SPEED, MEDIOCRE PITCHING, AND A BELOW AVERAGE BULLPEN. Even so, what this tells me is that my game/sliders are exactly where I want them to be. I want simulation baseball, and that's exactly what I'm getting. Granted, I've been the luckiest ******* ever to play an entire season under .500 and still have a shot at the post season, but what I need now is just a little more of what I've been getting all year. L U C K. If I can maintain, and trust me, I'll fight with every pitch, I just need everyone else to eliminate the other enough to get me the help I need. After 130+ games, there's no doubt I won't be going on a 4 or 5 game win streak anytime soon. Not to mention, I'm facing Felix Hernandez, who's happened to have his way with me all season: April 11th - (W): 7 IP, ER, 3 BB, 8 K May 25th - (W): 7.1 IP, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 K Aug 25th - (N/D): 7 IP, 3 ER, 3 BB, K As always, thanks to everyone that has followed, I will without a doubt give it my best. puckhogg11
Your dynasty is fun to follow. It just seems so real. Well everything except the Angels record. Dynasties are no fun when you are blowing people out every night and you have a 70 or 80 winning percentage. If you can somehow find a way to get Oakland in the playoffs you will have earned it. Good luck and I'll continue to check your progress daily.

I understand what you're saying about the Angels, but on the flipside the Mets (in my dynasty) have been tearing a path to the playoffs since April. On paper, I guess maybe the Mets should be better than they are in real life, but as far as the Angels, I can't really figure that one out either. Injuries and major under performance can really only be the answer. Also, I agree with what you're saying about playing every night and blowing away the opponent. I just don't see what fun that could be. I like the odds to be as real and balanced as it can be. For example, when I step onto the field vs Boston or New York, I want the game to dictate that the odds are against me, and playing as Oakland, they should be. When stepping onto the field vs Pittsburgh or Washington, I want the game balanced enough that the odds are in my favor, even playing with a mediocre 2009 A's team, I should more than likely pull out the wins. The key to it all is good sliders, a solid roster set, and NOT STARTING THE GAME OVER EVEN IF YOU GET DOWN 5-0 IN THE FIRST INNING. And trust me, I've been there this season more than once. :D
CircleChange11
I still can't believe (Phillies) powder blue and maroon was allowed to coexist on the same piece of clothing.. Throw in a front zipper for the jersey top and vertical stripes on the sleeves and it's an all-time uni. I am one of the few that really likes those old colorful jerseys from the 70's and 80's. CircleChange11
Not to boost your already inflated ego or anything .. (you should know by now I'm j/k) ... but I wonder if this dynasty might start a mini-trend next year with some of using subpar teams and seeing who can have the most success and good presentations. With multiple people doing it, it might be easier to endure with a struggler.

It looks like i will be starting season 3 of my Dynasty with a sub par team because my performance grade is currently F and if that continues, i will be removed as Boston GM and placed with a poor team. If any team at all.

I am one of the few that really likes those old colorful jerseys from the 70's and 80's. Today's unis are Zzzzzzzzz. I remember those days. Barely. I actually don't mind them so much, most anything you see at an impressionable age tends to stick with you, and usually brings back good memories. In fact, I have an old (very old) powder blue Cardinals jersey somewhere in the attic, don't even remember what name it had on it. Something as simple as hearing sound clips of Jack Buck, Harey Carey, Joe Garagiola, etc. reminds me of that whole era. Personally, I think my favorite era for unis was the mid to late 80's/early 90's. Unis with the high socks, or stirrups. I'm not a big fan of modern unis either, but I do have to admit if I were wearing one today, I'd be wearing mine like Ian Kinsler wears his. With multiple people doing it, it might be easier to endure with a struggler. I don't know man, I think most presented dynasties are doomed before they even get started. Of course, people are entitled to play/present how they want to, but most seem to be a carbon copy of the other. I'm not talking about presentation, I'm talking more about "approach", or how they play the game in general. Instead of taking the time to develop their players/team, there's usually a flurry of trades for the quick fix, trying to land big name players, or just seeing what kind of deals you can get to benefit your team. IMO, it's easy to lose interest when you're not able to present a dynasty with a stable core of players that the follower can stick with through an entire season. In a nutshell, it's just hard to keep track any other way. But as you mentioned, I'd love to see more challenges in the dynasties, and to see people stick with their team through "thick and thin." It usually makes for better reading, and when you're playing 162 games and not winning, reading is all you have. As I've always said though, to each their own. I like dynasties of all kinds.
