~ Relive The Dyna'Sty ~ - A 2009 Season In Progress

Would I rather have The Show on the PC and let this community get their hands on it?  Hell yeah, who in their right mind wouldn't. But after playing '08, I still wasn't convinced enough to buy this year's version.  The 25 pitch/foul ball at bats absolutely wore me down on a daily basis.  I play, instead of sim, 162 games a season and by mid May it was mind numbing.  I was 'this close' to just throwing at the batter's head just to get on with the game.  Instead of spending resources to amend this glaring issue, time was taken to put a bouncing beach ball in every stadium in the Majors.

Why?

My biggest issue was with the sliders.  They just didn't work.  It was a bit annoying having to wait a week for updated rosters, but I could handle that.  But like I said, after about 3 months, I just gave up.  8-9 runs, 14-16 hits per game is just way too much for my taste, so I put it on the shelf and haven't touched it since, but instead let it be a reminder for 'next year', which I did.  I still can't review this year's version because I've played the demo a couple of times and that was it.  These issues may have been addressed this year, I really have no idea.

However, I do think Sony is about to get it right.  The graphics, the commentary, the little things, and the overall experience is truly a sight to behold, and if they listen to their customers, next year's Show should be damn near perfect.

I'll be waiting all winter.   B)

Yeah I gotcha. I have both 08 and 09 and I must say that 08 is absolutely horrible compared to 09. I could show you the sliders I use cause I normally only max out at 8 pitch at bats and thats once a game maybe. The graphics and commentary are great and I agree next year prolly will be perfect. But then again I'm so content with 09 that I probably won't be buying next years version.

Anyways sorry to get your dynasty so off topic haha.

I usually "keep stats" for my sim'd and played games (you guys have seen my spreadsheets for 2k9).

51g-scoreboardsliders.jpg

I compare my actual stats to MLB averages to get a feel for "realism".

I actually had 2k9 playing very well, and then the game just went bonkers.

So, for combined stats, a game should produce an average of ~9.5 rpg, 18.5 hpg, 13.2 kpg, 6.6 bbpg

Walks always seem to be the toughest to nail, so I usually allow for more hpg, so that the WHIP is accurate because runners/game has the biggest effect on runs/game.

I'd like to see how MLB09 compares in this regard. From what I have read from others 09 fixed some of the gameplay issues from 08.

Man, this thing is going down to the wire. Neither one of you guys want to take control of the division. :)

This is some good stuff, Jay.

Good luck, and try to keep Figgins off the bases. ^_^

I don't understand it.  I recently, and for the first time this season, went on a 7 game winning streak and it seemed whoever the opponent was just didn't have any gas in the tank.

Now this.  These last two games against Texas was just like someone turned on the electricity.  This is exactly why I can't, or don't, think I can make the post season.

*Edit - I do just want to add, I feel these first 3 games against the last place Angels will be an advantage since the Rangers are playing a red hot Tampa Bay team.  If the Rays can flex their muscle and pull off the sweep, and I manage to at least play .500 ball,  I may have a chance.

Wow, good win there Jay.

Oh, and I know you're sending a couple of kegs over to the Tampa Bay clubhouse, to ensure they continue to beat up on Texas. :D

..the envelope, Maestro, the yellow envelope.. :diablo:

The Angels seem to play very well in played games. I wonder what the issue is with sim'd games? I guess I'm questioning the validity of the MVP sim engine.

On another topic, the Angels are giving the A's Hell. Heh Heh. They are being the "monkey wrench" to your "big plans".

Hey Look! You're in the wild card standing now. One more moral victory. *grin*
