JoeRudi26
The Angels seem to play very well in played games. I wonder what the issue is with sim'd games? I guess I'm questioning the validity of the MVP sim engine. I have to agree, everytime I face them, it seems the entire game is a hitfest. I wasn't going to win this one if it went 50 innings.

CircleChange11
Right now, this is the only playoff watch I'm involved in. *grin* This is literally a case where Oakland and Texas can control their own destony by taking care of their own business. But, it's going to be interesting to see how SEA and LAA play against OAK and TEX. That was nice of you to face Kazmir, so TEX doesn't have to. Most likely only one of you (OAK or TEX) is going to face King Felix (although it's possible that you both do). Wonder who that's gonna be? *grin* Enjoy your day off tomorrow. Are you going to watch/report the TEX-LAA game?

Are you going to watch/report the TEX-LAA game? Thanks, CC, and yeah, I could at least post their (Rangers) scores from here on out, maybe do some highlights if I can find some time. As far as the season goes, I am going to be completely honest when I say this has been an unbelievably strange season that, two months ago, I just wanted to get over with. But for the fact that I gave my word to see it through, I probably would have stopped posting scores in July. Not necessarily because I was 7 or 8 games out of first place, or would win 3 and lose 5, win 4 and lose 7, etc., but just because I thought the team was bland and untalented pretty much across the board; no pitching, no bullpen, no speed, no power, in other words, just no fun to play with. And then I realized, it is that bad. I've never played with this kind of a challenge the whole time I've played video game baseball, and not to mention the whole division sucked a@@ and was allowing me to hang around the top. Even though the game is 4 or 5 years old, and there's not very many people following, it's turned out to be one of the funnest season I've ever played. There is no pitching, no bullpen, no speed, no power, and NO SUPERSTARS. And somehow I may still make the playoffs. But my prediction is this: This season will end just as my games are played. I will fall short by 1 or 2 games, and the season will be over. Even if no one is watching, it's been fun as hell.
JoeRudi26
man tough losses.. how did the Rangers do against the Rays? The Rangers took 2 of 3 from the Rays: 7-3 17-6 3-1 Texas and LAA are passive when simmed, but are bastards to beat when you face them. Luckily I have Seattle left on the schedule. Not that it means much, but they seem to be a little easier to handle.
JoeRudi26
Here's a shot of Sweeney's homerun. I still couldn't believe I got this past Hunter. It looked like he was a hair too late on the jump.

JoeRudi26
Their (Texas) last 7 games are on the road, 4 of which are at Los Angeles. My road games (3) are at Seattle, fnishing home (2) against the Angels. It looks like I have the advantage, but with the way the simmed games are going, I'm not too confident. They're both tough to play, but Texas obviously has the edge when being simmed. I pretty much control my own destiny. I just need to win.

puckhogg11
Yeah JR it's great to follow your dynasty. I check it at least a couple of times a day. I don't know what I'm going to do at work (when I should be working) after you finish the playoffs. That's right. You're going to make the playoffs. Keep up the good work and remember 1 at bat at a time.

I haven't done as much graphically as I'd have liked to, but this has truly turned out to be a fun season. If there is no legit PC baseball game on the market next year, I may go ahead and do something with The Show, now at least that it's possible to post pics. I'd love to try my hand at a dynasty with next gen graphics. As far as this season, I tell people how stressful these games really are ever since it's been mathematically possible for me to get into the playoffs. I'm sweating bullets with every pitch, my sliders barely allow me to make a mistake pitch. If I do, 90% of the time I pay. IMO, with this year's A's team, I'd say it's been pretty fair and realistic. It's just by a miracle the other teams happen to be just as bad. I may get in, I may not, but like I said, it's definitely been fun to play all 162 games. Thanks for following! puckhogg11
The Mets made the playoffs? How did they NOT choke? The Reds/Cubs race looks good. My Astros sucked just like in real life. You could have 2 (Cubs/Reds & Phillies/Braves) 90 win teams missing the playoffs.

You could have 2 (Cubs/Reds & Phillies/Braves) 90 win teams missing the playoffs. The Mets must have been healthy all year. On paper, they probably should be pretty good. The same with the Cubs. Not sure why St. Louis is in the middle of the pack, could be injuries or under performance, I really don't know. Tampa Bay and Cleveland really doesn't surprise me, nor does the Dodgers. With a handful of games left, including my own division, there are a couple of really good races that are up in the air. It's gonna be a fun week. JoeRudi26
I went through the Seattle boxscores from this season, Ken Griffey has dominated my pitching. Here are the numbers that him and Sweeney have put up this season against me: Ken Griffey 14 Games 19-52 (.365) 5 HR 7 RBI Mike Sweeney 7 Games 9-31 (.290) 2 HR 3 RBI Needless to say, I'm glad Griffey is out of the lineup.
CircleChange11
The Mets must have been healthy all year. On paper, they probably should be pretty good. I'm sim'd seasons on Baseball Mogul, Out of the Park X, and MVP ... and the Mets have won the NLE in each game. PHL has won the WC in 2 of the 3. In 09, they have basically 7 starters injured. If healthy, they had a chance to dominate like they 88 NYM team did. The same with the Cubs. Not sure why St. Louis is in the middle of the pack, could be injuries or under performance, I really don't know. Not to get on my rant again, but the Cards seem to be under-rated in many games. However, it would not likely be fair to rank Wain and Carp as 2 of the 3 best pitchers in the NL. Carp, yes ... Wain, No. But, even Carp was coming off an injury. The Cards, in real life, always seem to over-achieve. To me, it's coaching. Just like how the Cubs have underperformed ... borderline imploded ... coaching. I don't think Sweet Lou is all that in the dugout ... but that's just me. Tampa Bay and Cleveland really doesn't surprise me, nor does the Dodgers. With a handful of games left, including my own division, there are a couple of really good races that are up in the air. TB, on paper, is another team that 'should' be awesome. On both BM and OOTP they won the ALE. Maybe Maddon isn;t the genuis he was deemed to be last year, and maybe the Rays just had a really, really, good year in 08. CLE is likely better than they should be partly due to Carmona still having "ace" ratings (and having a horrible 09 in MLB). If Carmona in 09 was like Carmona in 08, the Tribe likely still has Lee and has a much, much better year. In BM and OOTP, SFG win the division, and LAD win the WC 1 year. The Dodgers are having a really good year this year, and IMO that's largely due to Kemp's season and different guys taking turns being the hero at various times. Anyway, just talking ball. Joey D
Congrats on actually finishing the season all the way through. Must have taken some extreme determination especially with the team you're using. I smell a one game play-off and you are going to win, but I think the injuries are going to catch up to you in the playoffs. I mean really, Chavez is about the only punch left and Kennedy is a pretty pesky hitter :p
