JoeRudi26
Just a couple of notes going over the last 2 games vs the Mariners (boxscores). With Griffey and Sweeney both out due to injuries, the only other obvious threat is Ichiro. I've been able to keep him off the bases for the most part, 2-10 (.200) in the series with a triple and an RBI. He stole one base, and was caught once (picked off). Jose Lopez (5-8, 3 RBI) and Russell Branyan (3-7, RBI) have really been the only other bright spots for Seattle. I'm going to focus on these 3 players in the last game and try to clamp them down even more. Hopefully I can pull of the sweep and go 2 full games ahead of Texas before the start of this last series. JoeRudi26
Almost there Jay, lets keep it up! Thanks, Sabathia. Winning tonight's game will put me 2 ahead going into the last series with the Angels. Losing would obviously only put me 1 ahead, with 3 games left. I'm going to give it my best, I'd love to have a little more baseball to play this year. ^_^

CircleChange11
Season's on the line and you've got Brett Tomko on the bump ... a winless Tomko at that. Looks like you've had pretty good recent success against Kaz. Good luck. Tough loss on Beltre's blast. In the world of video game baseball, I'm more than lucky to even be here with what has transpired (with an already depleted Oakland A's team) over the entirety of this season. Not only did the A's basically clean an already "cleaned house", I dealt with key injuries early on; Justin Duchscherer, Bobby Crosby, Jack Cust and Eric Chavez were all out early in the season. I lost, obviously, Matt Holliday, Jason Giambi, Orlando Cabrera, and Sean Gallagher around the middle of the season, and really only got my "return" on Scott Hairston, who has been fantastic in the lineup. Not that these losses were substantial in the big scheme of things (except for Holliday), but I've basically been left with nothing but some AAA call ups who are "trying" to fill the spots. Even at this point, I have Chavez back on the DL, along with second basemen Adam Kennedy and Mark Ellis. Even with all that's happened, I've taken one game at a time and fought for every inch of ground that I've gained, and just by pure luck the rest of the division has been as mediocre as I have. My point is, it doesn't make much difference who's on the mound when you're trying to plug holes all over the field, especially when your options are thin to begin with. I'm going in with the same strategy that got me this far, and I'll fight with every pitch and every at bat. Bottom line is, if you manually play 162 games, this season has been proof (to me) that playing with accurate rosters can be much more rewarding than "fixing" the problems by manufacturing your own lineup. I've had a blast playing this year's dynasty, even if I don't make the post season. B)

I've had a blast playing this year's dynasty, even if I don't make the post season. Agreed. The flipside would be is if LAA was winning 92+ games and if TEX had 88+ wins, it would be interesting to see what kind of moves a gamer could make to allow OAK to be competitive with the them (lots of young talent in the A's system). This dynasty has been great becuse you've done an excellent job in the playing and presentation, but also because LAA is about 25 games under-performing and TEX is a little off. If you were 15-20 GB of the lead, these games would be laborsome to get through. If that were the case, being able to make a few moves might be welcome. The problem with "Gamer trading" is that far too many franchises see lots and lots of trades in the first month of the season, and the team is barely even recognizable once the trading is done (and the trades are often both unrealistic and one-sided). Guys often trades high-money players to teams that don;t take on salary for prospects those teams would never give up.

This could be fun, the problem is, most user dynasties don't ever get into this predicament. The band aids were applied subsequent to seeing the Opening Day lineups when noticing there were no Rodriguezes,Texeiras, or Santanas. That's fine though, and I respect each and every person's method of playing the game. As Eddie Van Halen once said, "who gives a shi* whether it's A minor or B sharp, if it sounds good it is good." I once worked with a guy who was thrilled to death that his created player (Cardinals, if I remember right) had 76 homeruns at the All-Star Break. OkaaaaaaaaAAAAy. If a user planned to play 162 games and somehow implemented a fair rule system (on himself) as far as trades, transactions, etc., I suppose the game could be played at some new depths. Heck, that's something I may consider one day, just to see how my own transactions affected my team over the course of a season. Cool thing is, no matter how you slice it, it's still baseball. JoeRudi26
I almost forgot, when talking about how I was trying to scrap for runs with this AAA Oakland team, I actually saved a clip of the only run I scored against Seattle last night. This is how truly pathetic this offense really is.

Maestro23
Down goes Pennington... Down goes Pennington. What's up with guys named Pennington and injuries (Dolphins). Man, way to rally for those 3 runs in the 9th to pull that win out. How in the heck did LAA score 7 in their half? Jay, you had to be throwing some BP up there. Man, this thing is going down to the last day. Good stuff man, good stuff. :hi:
JoeRudi26
How in the heck did LAA score 7 in their half? This has happened to me before with this Angel's team. When it gets started, it's almost like I'm only watching, not playing, and I can't do anything about it no matter what. It's like autopilot, they just score until they get the lead, and then it calms down. As you can imagine, I was livid, I was talking to myself saying "pizz on it, I want this season over with ANYWAY", LOL. You know, one of those types of 'self' conversations. But when Eric Patterson singled to lead off the bottom of the 9th, I did a 360. Instead of giving up, I went back to my game plan and waited those bastards out. I've gotten this far with these hooligans, I wasn't going to give up so easy. This was one of those "HELL YEAH!" wins. But yeah, the Dolphins...*sigh* What a way to start the year. Anyway, thanks for checking in, 2 more to go, and I guess I'll be ready for College Hoops.
CircleChange11
Unreal. I don;t know what is with your bullpen, but once you get a team to two outs, they break out the bats like mad. You're gonna have to figure out a way to play for a game-ending double play and bypass the whole "one out to go" thing. What.A.Game. 83-79. I stand by my prediction. One game playoff/in. You hit the nail on the head. I'm surprised anyone noticed this. I'm almost afraid to get the 2nd out, I know all hell is getting ready to break loose. I don't know what it is. But yeah, I was looking at my win/loss record after the game, and I immediately thought of the your prediction. Good call. ^_^

I still have an ongoing career with CHOOPS 2k5, where I started out with Western Illinois, moved up to Evansville, then finally got a job at Texas A&M where I won a couple of National Titles and met all the recruiting achievements, and then took a job at Illinois State where I went something like 35-1, losing the national title game and my undefeated season. I played the newst version on 360, but didn;t really like it. I didn;t have the same "feel" as 2k5. Do they have a college hoops game on PC? JoeRudi26
Actually, I meant (watching) real College Hoops. I'd give my right arm for a good PC College Hoops game. Can't say I ever remember even seeing one.

CircleChange11
It's cold and rainy, and you know what that means ... basesball playoffs. It's gonna be interesting watching winter ball in NY, DET, PHL, etc. I don't think the Cards are going to mind travelling to sunny LA for playoff games. It always cracks me up to see guys from the DR and PR (Latin America) playing baseball in 40 degree weather. Placido Polanco always lokos like he'd kill someone for a parka.
