JoeRudi26
... probably get injured in the 2nd inning. Probably. I wonder if there's a way I can watch this game without mine (A's) being simmed. I'll have to check it out with the Team Changer, I don't think I've tried this before.. JoeRudi26
It's cold and rainy, and you know what that means ... basesball playoffs. I know man, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I'll be locked down this weekend watching Jim Leyland sweat out the nicotene trying to get past the Twins. :D

JoeRudi26
Thanks, louie, I am counting on King Felix to help me out. If I can find a way to watch it without my game being simmed, I may post a recap. Thanks for checking in!
CircleChange11
I'm surprised anyone noticed this. That's the pitching coach part of me. We can't stop ourselves at looking at count/out situations and noticing results. I just noticed from the 3 or 4 times you've posted teams going bonkers with major innings, there always seems to be 2 outs before the dam breaks. What's more interesting is that in all those times, if memory serves, you get the two outs early and/or consecutively .... then it's like the AI says "Ah Ah Ah, <Lee Corso Voice On> Not so fast, my friend. <Corso Off>. JoeRudi26
The good thing about MVP is that these big comebacks don't happen that often. In fact, they happen so progressively (and somewhat subtly), even if it's in the same inning, it almost makes you wonder what you're doing wrong. After 3 or 4 hits in a row, I start checking pitcher stamina, putting pitchers in the bullpen, focusing on my pitches, etc. Really, I guess that's what you would do in real life. It's not a glitch or a trigger that you immediately notice and can patch as soon as you see it. The absolute most wonderful part about this baseball game is that it's balanced. It happens about as often for the user as it does for the CPU. The only fair thing to do is take the azz kicking and move on.

Maestro23
Man, tough loss Jay. They turned it on, those last 3 innings. I'll be sending that "yellow" envelope to Seattle (Next Day Air). I knew this was going down to the last day. Good luck man. You got plenty of "beverage"? Thanks, Rob. Man, these guys are just plain awful to have to play. Vlad, Hunter, Kendrick, Morales, Abreu. An effing nightmare. I can't hold them down no matter what I do. I play my games first, and then see what Texas did because I don't want any added pressure if they happen to win. Even if they lose, I don't want to know, it's possible I could slack. At least they had to face King Felix in this last game, and they can't take the division out right. I just need to win tomorrow.

CircleChange11
Win and you're in. Simple as that. One thing this dynasty has shown, and is very realistic IMO, is that the difference between the successful teams and the unsuccessful is often "bullpen security/effectivess" If your bullpen is more stable and effective, you may have 90 wins. 2 recent situations in MLB illustrate this: [1] In 08 the cardinals led the league in blown saves and bullpen losses. This year Ryan Franklin is both consistent and effective. Last year, no playoffs. This year, division champ. In 08, if the bullpen only loses/blows half the games they did, StL would have div champ in 08 also. [2] Phillies, in 08 Lidge was lights out. This year, unstable. If the Mets had not lost so many players to injury, PHL might be on the outside looking in. With closers essentially being relegated to '9th inning duty', more and more games seemed to be won/lost in the 7th/8th inning. Comparatively, the 7th/8th inning relievers receive a lot less attention than starters/closers, but when I look at many teams, it is the effectiveness of these guys, for manyteams, that is the larges difference. JoeRudi26
Win and you're in. Simple as that. If I lose tomorrow against the Angels, and the Rangers win, at least I'll have 1 more shot to get in, and against an offensively weaker team in Texas. But if Texas loses tomorrow.. I'll be playing baseball next week. :yahoo:
CircleChange11
You don;t have to go to the tie-breaker game, just to make me look smart. Just win tomorrow and celebrate.
