Matt23134
Hi guys. I am sure there is a FAQ that answers this somewhere but I can't find it. My question is what exactly are the data files that are for download on this site? I've looked at a couple but not many have very good descriptions. I've heard people talk about downloading data files to make the game play differently. What do they do exactly? Also, where do I save the data file when I download it? And are some data files only compatible with certain mods? Thanks for your help, Matt
Jim825
Hi Matt, Datafiles control a wide variety of things in the game -- size of the pitch meter, camera views, ball physics, time between pitches, default position of the fielders on the field, etc. Like different slider sets, different datafiles can make your game play differently. The datafile is named datafile.txt and the default one (i.e. the one that came with the game) is embedded in the MVP Baseball 2005 \ data \ datafile \ datafile.big file. What is interesting is that if you take another datafile.txt file and you copy it to your MVP Baseball 2005 \ data folder, the game with use this other datafile rather than the default one in the datafile.big file. This allows you to try out different datafiles by simply copying them to your MVP Baseball 2005 \ data folder. I've released a number of datafiles myself. My v5.0 combo datafile can be found here: http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?autocom=d...p;showfile=4574 The description explains what is contained in the datafile and there is also a readme file with the mod that explains in more detail what has been changed in the datafile. Matt23134
Thanks for your quick and helpful response Jim. So I don't have to overwrite the date file that came with the game? And if I don't like the way a data file makes the game play, I can simply delete the file and it will go back to reading the data file that came with the game?
