Docterj13
I recently downloaded the MVP 2008 update to mvp 2005. I've done some tinkering to the rosters through mvp edit since they are about a year old but it wont let me export the rosters into the game because it says the hist.dat file is read only. Please help
MarkB
Quite simple - remove the read only attribute from the hist.dat file. A Google search should be fruitful.
Docterj13
The problem is that my rosters are in an mbe file so I cant open them unless its through mvp edit.
MarkB
Yep...and removing the read only attribute from hist.dat will allow you to export them.
Docterj13
But i dont even know how to access the hist.dat file since i cant open the mbe file
MarkB
You don't have to open the .mbe file to access it - the hist.dat file is just another file on your hard drive, the same as any other file. It's in your MVP Baseball 2005\data\database\ folder. Remove the read only attribute from it and the error won't occur.
Docterj13
It still wont work. I have vista by the way if that matters but the read only attribute box is unchecked and yet mvp edit wont let me export the rosters becuase it says hist.dat is a read only file
myseason
Go to you Hist.dat file in your data folder and right click and check the security levels. Make sure all the groups listed have the checkmark in the "allow" section below in the Permissions for Systems section. My guess is one of the groups does not have the appropriate permissions. Double check the read only again and that might do it.
