jbrowning82
I asked this same thing over at eamods so sorry if you've seen it already: 1) If I have menu10.asf menu11.asf etc. will those get played in the random shuffle? If not is there something I can change to make that happen? 2) Any way to manually change the music titles so that the names and artists appear correctly instead of saying the name and artist of the old songs 3) Where is the batter walk-up music located in the data files? Can I assign specific .asfs to each batter? Or is it just 1 song per genre and I pick the genre? 4) Finally, is there any way to change D alignment? The in-game option is just for substitutions, I'm talking about bringing in the infield, the outfielders, etc. Thanks
MarkB
Holy hell. Remember that last thread you made where I directed you to a post I had previously made, advising you to read that first before posting? Yeah, that one. The answer to your second question is contained within a link in that thread. I wonder how many times one has to be advised to read a thread before they actually do it. jbrowning82
Wow, guy. Just because you've got administrator stamped on your profile doesn't mean you have to act like some officious customer service rep. Remember that last thread you made where you directed me to a post you had previously made, advising me to read that first before posting? Yeah, that one. "The Support Forum - Read this First" Neither of my questions were answered by going to the topic you linked me to. Not the first one. Not this one. I solved my earlier Q by looking up info on another site. All that's in that topic is a bunch of useless forum tips and the advice to search first. Instead of spending 20 minutes searching for individual answers, I thought I'd make a topic. It's not like this place is so flooded with new topics that me asking this question is bumping off any important material. There have only been like 5 posts (just posts, not even new topics) on this entire board for the last week or two. Am I really putting anyone out by posting a couple easy questions? Take it easy. MarkB
Are you serious? I'm an I.T. technician. I fix, repair and maintain PCs for a living. That involves using a high level of customer service. I've been doing it for around 7 years. Not one of my customers has ever had a complaint about how I dealt with either them or their PC issue. I've also been a staff member on this site for a few years. If you want to check my reputation on that, shoot a PM to any of the other staff members and I'm sure they'll be happy to explain how I work. I like to help people find answers themselves, rather than spoon-feeding them. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. By the same token, I could give you an answer to your question and it would be sorted, or, I could give you the information you need to be able to find out how to answer the question yourself, then that would not only answer your current question, but would stand you in good stead for any future questions you may have, as you'll know where to start in finding an answer. As for your "Neither of my questions were answered by going to the topic you linked me to. Not the first one. Not this one" line, I beg to differ. The point of my linking you to the "The Support Forum - Read This First" for your first thread was because in that thread, you'll find that I made a post stating the following; Also, in order to help, it would save a lot of everyone's time if we had the following information from your first post, rather than someone having to ask it. Please post this information, in whatever form you choose, as long as it's there, in your thread. 1. What is the exact problem? Vague descriptions are no good. 2. When did the problem start happening? Has the game ever worked, such as from a fresh install, before you installed any mods? 3. What mods have you installed, if any? 4. Are you using the original game CDs, or a no-CD crack? If you are using a no-CD crack, try running the game with the original game CDs and the original .exe file. We cannot, and will not, provide any support for users attempting to obtain or run the game illegally. If you do not have the original game CDs, don't bother posting asking for help, because there is a very good chance that someone will ask the question sooner or later and you will just have wasted a lot of your own, and everyone else's time on a thread that will just be locked. 5. What have you already tried to resolve the problem yourself? Finally, posting your PC's specifications is helpful when attempting to diagnose certain issues, so if you know this information off-hand, it may be useful to post that as well. Thanks. Both RAM and myself also made other points in that thread. Your post consisted of "I have a PS2 controller hooked up to my laptop via a USB converter and for some reason MVP 2005 does not support the controller. Is there any way to get around this?". From the list above, none of the items, 1-5, were answered, and you didn't post your system specifications. Had we had this, we would have been able to get a better idea of how your system was set up and possibly why it wasn't working, and by answering questions 1-5, it would help us find out what the problem is, based on any error messages you may have received, problems you may have encountered during the installation etc. Without this information, your post is as good as taking your car to a garage, ripping off the manufacturer badges and model numbers, scratching off the engine number and saying "Fix it. It doesn't work". As for this thread, the question I attempted to help with was your second one - "2) Any way to manually change the music titles so that the names and artists appear correctly instead of saying the name and artist of the old songs". Again, note the lack of any information requested in the "The Support Forum - Read This First" thread. Now, in that thread, I made a post stating the following; And another one; Check the FAQ list in the MVP 2005 General forum, located here and the posting guide located here before posting. The same guidelines apply in the MVP 2005 Support forum. Thanks. One of the questions in the FAQ list is as follows; Is there any way to replace the menu music? Yes. You'll need a program named Ditty Importer, which you can get from here. Download it, run it, then click the Browse button to the right of Convert File. Find the file you want to use in the menu music, then click Open. Click the Browse button to the right of Output Folder, then find the music folder inside your MVP 2005 installation folder. The default install folder is C:Program FilesEA SPORTSMVP Baseball 2005dataaudiocdmusic, so unless you know that you've installed the game to somewhere else, this is the folder you need. When you've selected the music folder, click OK, then click Import. The status bar will fill and when the file has been created, the status bar will empty. Do this for 9 files that you want to play in the menu, then close the Ditty Importer. Now, browse to the music folder and delete the files named menu1.asf, menu2.asf, menu3.asf, menu4.asf, menu5.asf, menu6.asf, menu7.asf, menu8.asf and menu9.asf, then rename the files you have just created to menu1.asf etc. respectively. When this is done, you should have 9 files in this folder named menu*.asf where * is 1 through 9. Now, when you load up the game, you should have your own menu music. I'd say that answers your question pretty conclusively, wouldn't you? I'm not here to make your life difficult. I don't know you. I'm trying to help you, and the other guys in the forum who may be able to answer your question if I can't, answer your question as quickly as possible with information that's as accurate and helpful as possible. However, if you don't help us, we can't help you.
Yankee4Life
Jbrowning82, I recall the other thread in question because I read it. Your questions were answered the first time you asked them but it was obvious you didn't bother to read his response carefully, or when you clicked on the link he provided you, there must have been too much reading for you to do to find your answer in less than two seconds. You were given a lot of information in that first post. That seemed enough at the time. People enjoy helping others around here but that does not mean we will do your reading and do your searching for you.
jbrowning82
Sorry, I guess I assumed that since I was posting on an MVP 2005 support forum, if I didn't say I had used any mods (which I haven't, I'm just playing 2005) you'd assume I wasn't using any mods. --- I wasn't asking if there was a way to replace the menu music. I know how to do that. I was asking if I could have 10+ songs. That isn't answered explicitly in what you linked me to, so I asked it on here. --- And I genuinely don't know what other information I could possibly give you to make those other three questions easy to answer. It's MVP 05. No mods, nada. I'm not trying to be a dick, I just don't get why you came at me like that when I asked pretty straight-forward questions hoping for straight forward responses. Yankee4Life
Yes, once again yes, there is a way to replace your menu music. Get that ditty importer and put in any song you wish to. The sky's the limit for this. It's entirely your choice. You must get a song in .MP3 format and convert it in the ditty importer. It will convert to .ASF. Then rename that song to menu1.asf, etc, etc. I have ten songs in my game.
emath2432
Attempting to help yourself is the easiest way to getting others to help you too. Even if this forum is slower these days, it isn't always like this. You get 10 posts asking the same things, within a few days of one another, and after answering all 10 separately, you get tired of it. You HOPE that people will at least make an attempt to find the info themselves. Every question you can ask has been answered 10 times or more on this board, probably just in the past year (I know, I just became a member in the past year, and found all the answers to my questions in that time). No one is telling you that you can't ask a question, but what they are saying is that we will likely point you in the general direction of your answer (or even in the exact direction in most cases), and let you take it from there. That way, not only will you be able to find the answer to your current question, but also the answer to the question you will probably be asking in 3 days. Jim825
Question #1: I believe that there is a limit of 9 jukebox songs. If you create menu10.asf, menu11.asf, etc., I don't believe that they will be played. Question #2: You need the utility LOCLook to change this information in the FEENG.LOC file (which is in the data folder) Question#3 and #4: I don't know the answers to either of these

All I've asked is whether or not you can have more than 9 songs. Responses thus far seem to be unsure but leaning towards no. That's fine though. I think I've gotten everything I need, though. Thanks for your help.
MarkB
Sorry, I guess I assumed that since I was posting on an MVP 2005 support forum, if I didn't say I had used any mods (which I haven't, I'm just playing 2005) you'd assume I wasn't using any mods. Well, we get questions from lots of users with many, many different setup's using many, many different combinations of mods, so we can't just assume what your configuration is. It would waste everyone's time. I wasn't asking if there was a way to replace the menu music. I know how to do that. I was asking if I could have 10+ songs. That isn't answered explicitly in what you linked me to, so I asked it on here. My apologies, I quoted the wrong question from the FAQ. The part I meant to copy was this, in response to question 2, regarding changing the titles of the songs; Is it possible to change the names of the tracks that appear on the EATrax box and in the Jukebox? Yes. You will need a program named LocLook, available here. Download this, then run it and open the FEENG.LOC file. In the "Find" field, type in "IOU" and click Find. That should take you to a part of the list where, by scrolling up and down, you will see the names of the artists, tracks and albums that the tracks appear on. Simply change these, one by one, clicking the "Change" button after each, to represent the tracks you have inserted in the step above, then click Save. Close this program, then, the next time you load MVP Baseball 2005, you should see the appropriate names, tracks and album titles being displayed in both EATrax and in the Jukebox. However, again, if you had read the FAQ, you would already know this. And I genuinely don't know what other information I could possibly give you to make those other three questions easy to answer. It's MVP 05. No mods, nada. The point is that we don't know this. Look through the Support forum and you'll find all sorts of questions from all sorts of users with all sorts of different ways they have their game set up. We're not mind readers. Unless you tell us, we don't know if you have every stadium mod, portrait pack, cyberface pack and audio mod installed and are looking for support on a datafile issue or if you're just using a barebones installation. As for the reason why we ask for systems specifications, it's for troubleshooting - if a mod is crashing your game and your graphics card is 5 years old, this gives us an idea that your graphics card may not be able to show the higher end graphics. If you want to know why something isn't working, we can't tell you unless we know what you're trying to use it on. See the previous car analogy for an explanation. I'm not trying to be a dick, I just don't get why you came at me like that when I asked pretty straight-forward questions hoping for straight forward responses. Same here, we're just trying to help, but there's only so much we can do before we need some input from you. When it comes to supporting a game that's 5 years old and has as much new user generated content as there is on this site, nothing is straightforward unless you know what you're doing. Simply throwing a Ford engine into a Honda truck and asking "Why won't it work" won't do anyone any good.
