PC Release = Q2 2005?

I just noticed on Gamespot that while the console release dates are all listed as 3/01, the PC's is listed as "Q2 2005." I will be rather ticked if MVP doesn't come until late March...or worse, after Opening Day.

Hey, it's EA. If this happens, would it really shock you?
You're right. Yet, those guys always manage to annoy me, with news like that, although meanwhile of course, I should know better

why do they do that though? Do they like see how the console versions go, and fix any bugs that were present in the console version in the pc version?

Nah they do that for the same reasons games like the GTA Series and Halo Series have been. They do that to make you go buy the console version if your dying to play the game so that months later they bring out the PC version since they already got your $50 they'll bring out the PC Version for like $30-40.

one word:

netflix

and in regards to EA being late.....i will not be buying the game for console since i do not own one. hopefully, this will mean that the pc version will not be released as a beta this year, which was the case with 2004, am i right? but, as is stated in a previous post, i believe it is to satiate the console market and get as much out of it as they can before the people that can make the game better for only themselves (pc players) and not the console players (remember how EA did nothing for the consolers last year?) get their hands on it and realize that it's another foul release. thus, preventing people in the console market from purchasing the game that they would have if the bugs in the game were not found by the pc players. so, i would think EA is betting on that 1 month to make their profit if the relase is shiiit. after that and if it is indeed crap, they won't be able to give it away, at least to the non-moddable console players, which as we all know, is the primary market.

What you guys don't realize is that theres a reason why they got rid of the late fees. 1 reason is because customers complain about the late fees. But heres the main reason why they did away with late fees. Quoted directly from the blockbuster website:

There is no additional charge if a member keeps a rental item beyond the pre-paid rental period. However, if a member chooses to keep a rental item more than a week after the end of the rental period, Blockbuster will automatically convert the rental to a sale on the eight (8th) day after the end of the rental period. Blockbuster will charge the membership account the selling price for the item in effect at the time of the rental. The selling price will be discounted by the amount of the initial rental fee paid by the member at the time of rental.

So you see they did away with rental fees because they'll instead charge you the full price of the game or movie. So if you rent a $50 game for $7 and you keep it for one extra day rather than charge the $7 late fee (which is just a 1 week rental) they'll simply charge you $50 that they game costs. So it's more benefical to them to do away with late fees, and they make more money off of you. But then again that's why smart people will pay the $20 Video Game Pass or $15 Movie Pass for the month.

If you return the game within 30 days, they will issue a credit, less a restocking fee. They had all of this below the paragraph that you quoted. They haven't mentioned what the restocking fee is. Basically you can keep the game for 30 days with a small penalty. They will charge you for the sale after 7 days, but they will issue a refund if you return it before 30 days are up. Hope that clears things up.

Yeah a reinstocking fee. Come on that's between 10%-15% which means if they charge you $50 for the game they'll take off $5-$7.50 just for nothing. Basically what does that equal? It equals the original Late Fee that they have been doing since they started so in the end it's the same thing. So basically they still have the Late Fee intact just hidden. Again everyone is just better off buying a pass. $20 for 1 month of Games doesn't sound bad considering if you rent 1 game every week that would = $6.50 * 4 = $26. The pass is much cheaper and no late fees.

no, smart people get a netflix account and don't bother with blockbuster, for renting movies anyway.

Well but Blockbuster offers 2 free game rentals at the store every month so that's a plus. I haven't tried Blockbusters Movie Pass yet so i don't know how big their movie library or delivery time is, but the 2 Free Game Rentals helps.

In regards to Blockbuster merging with Hollywood video:

"The truth is that combining Hollywood with any other video-store chain is like handcuffing two drunks together. They could prop up each other for a while, but they are bound to stumble."

Haha, that's hilarious because it reminds me of freshman year of college.
