LetsGoOakland
Most of this info comes from Gamespot because Hilary Goldstein can't write a decent review of what you can and can't do, which is what he is suppose to do. Anyway... Owner Mode - you can either use a current ballpark, historical or create your own right off the bat. The season has Spring Training before the regular season (something that 2004 did not have - your first ST came after your first season). New animations for double plays, swings that do not connect, errors and the pitcher covers first base this year. Online roster update available upon release. We can add here are more confirmed issues come around.

LetsGoOakland
One thing that I do not like is that when you build a stadium, it resembles a minor league park because you can't afford or attempt to buy certain things until you generate money (so small teams will build tiny parks while big market teams will probably have bookoo bucks to start with). I don't like this because when a team builds a stadium, they try to pack as much stuff into it as possible (which inevitably runs up the cost of the stadium package). I hope they turn this into a Madden-like process where you can get outside funding, etc. to build an expensive park. So instead, a major league team will go from Shea Stadium to a minor league park essentially (because you can't get certain stuff), which is very unrealistic, because that would never happen. jg2977
This game looks really unbelievable. There's more classic stadiums too. They showed Classic Fenway Park for a couple of seconds. Hopefully they have Classic Yankee Stadium and Ebbetts Field as well.
JoltinJoeCarter
i cant wait! Did anyone notice Manny Ramirez's batting stance in the video clip? Its way different than it is in mvp 04, i like the one in mvp 2004 better.
LetsGoOakland
Did anyone here the annoying sound when they pause the game on the GameSpot five minute video? It's like a high pitched beeping noise when you pause and unpause. Ugh, that will drive me nuts.
LetsGoOakland
This isn't completed but I have to go get ready for dinner (heading to the Olive Garden with the girlfriend to use the $40 gift card). I posted this on my own message board but since I only have five people there, I will post it here too (please sign-up!). This is a compilation of information or little tidbits about the game that are confirmed through different of sources. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Own the Plate: Change your position in the box to adjust to where the pitcher is working you, or keep the defense honest with a bunt for a hit. Precision Pitching: Paint the corners or send a message with the new Precision Pitch Meter, or catch runners napping with unparalleled pickoff control. Enhanced Big Play Control: Make an underhand toss to the pitcher as he sprints to cover first, slide around a tag at home, and make user-controlled stretches and dives. While leading off base, exercise your reflexes by beating pickoff throws with the all-new manual leadoff control. Build an Empire: Control every aspect of your organization in all-new Owner Mode. Create your line-up based on player progression during Spring Training, or help build player attributes by competing in a variety of mini-games. All-New Create Ballpark: In Owner Mode, build a pitcher’s paradise or a hitter’s dream. Will you spend your earnings to upgrade your ballpark or to sign that key free agent who could bring you a championship? Expanded Minor Leagues: Advanced Single A squads and additional stadiums have been added to round out the list of teams available in the minor league system. -In Owner Mode, the user has the option to select a current or historic stadium while a third option is the Create Ballpark feature. The park starts small and as the user accumilates funds, can install upgrades. Also, the user can set prices for tickets, souvenirs and run promotions (but not limited to). -Camera tweaked to bring the pitcher closer -Hitter's Eye is a color coded trail to a ball to tell the hitter what kind of pitch is coming (and becomes elongated as the stamina of a pitcher reduces) - fastball (white), breaking ball (red), off-speed (green) - without revealing the location. Pitchers who do a good job of hiding their pitch will be more immune to the Hitter's Eye. It is an option and can be turned off. ---GameSpot: Revamped pitcher's meter includes a smaller green "perfect pitch" zone, yellow "slightly off" zone that surrounds the green section and finally, anything outside of that constitutes a mistake pitch. ---IGN: When it was originally described as a special way a hitter sees the ball coming out of a pitcher's hand, I imagined some sort of camera zoom to show the rotation. Instead, the ball flashes a specific color the moment before it's hurled. Purple means it's a splitter, red is for curves and sliders, and white is for fastballs. The flash of color is momentary and easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. -More information available without having to pause. You can get information about the opposing team's lineup, batting information on the player at-bat, how a hitter fares against a left-handed pitcher/right handed pitcher, infield/outfield adjustments, mound visits, pitching changes, and defensive substitutions. -New to the game is the ability to argue calls with an intensity meter that when full, causes the manager to be tossed from the game. The user no longer has managerial control of the team but could light a fire under his players to pull out a win. -A change from 2004, the user starts in Spring Training (last year the dynasty started with the first game of the regular season). -New animations for whiffed swings, double-plays, and fielding errors. -Online roster update available upon release (since roster cutoff is expected to have passed on January 15th). --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resources: EA Sports: MVP Baseball 2005, key features (2004-2005) Internet Gaming Network, Hands-On Preview, video (2005) GameSpot, Hands-On Preview, video (2005) GameSpot, Video Interview with EA Sports Associate Producer Ben Brinkman (2005) Updated January 20, 2005
