The "Torne" kit includes all the software and hardware required for viewing and recording terrestrial digital broadcasts. The meat of the kit is a USB tuner that plugs into your PS3's USB port and receives signals from your wall outlet. Sony's game development staff created the interactive programming guide that powers Torne. Users can easily browse and record programs, with the application automatically going into record mode even when you're viewing a Blu-ray or playing a game. The viewer can also connect to the internet, allowing you to conduct searches on key terms while you watch programs. While the tuner itself is for the PS3, those with a PSP will find some bonus functionality. Torne can copy programs over to the PSP for viewing on the go. Additionally, the PSP can be used as a remote viewer, allowing you to manipulate your PS3 from anywhere within your home. Torne will hit Japan some time in March at ¥9,980. Sony will also be offering the device as part of a bundle with a 250 gigabyte PS3. This will run ¥42,800. That 250 gigabyte PS3 is not available in Japan yet. Sony also announced final release plans for the higher capacity system today. It's set for release on February 18 at ¥34,980. This is ¥5,000 higher than the current 120 gigabyte system. MarkB
Dear admin Maestro, In the interests of accessibility for as many users as possible, please post this article in Braille. Signed, A concerned human rights lawyer, posting on behalf of the disabled community. P.S. See you on a regular basis when the season starts! (Well, maybe not "see" you. How about "hear"? Nah. Just post in Braille from now on so I know when you're around.) On topic, if the recorded files can be exported to a PC out of the box, it'll be a hot seller. If not, it'll be mediocre. When the hackers find a way to get the recorded files to a PC, the sales will improve.
