Online

Hey 2K Sports fans!

Jay Iwahashi here to tell you all the things we have in store for you in terms of Online play in Major League Baseball® 2K10. The biggest change we made this year is Seamless Online Integration. We have torn down the wall between the online and offline worlds so that those of you who love to play online no longer have to jump through hoops just to play another human being.

Team Select

On the revolutionized Team Select screen, you will see two new options – Ranked and Invite Friends. Simply choose one or continue on to an offline game by toggling the Quick Game option. Although we limit the Ranked option to exhibition Play Ball games only, the Invite Friends option is included in MLB® Today, as well as your own Franchise. So now you can invite your friend to play as the opposing team rather than playing against the AI over and over. That keeps Franchise mode fresh and exciting!

Who’s Online

WhosOnline2.jpg

This is the main link to connect you to online play. You can access the Who’s Online menu from most areas of the game. You will be able to quickly find Party members, Friends, and view other gamers that have made themselves available for a quick game. We show you their reputation icon as well as ping/signal strength, and you’ll can access their 2K Sports Profile to get even more detailed information. All this information allows you to make an informed decision as to what your gameplay experience may be like.

Select any gamer shown and you’ll be able to send an invitation to play a game tailored to your preferences, including Strikes Only and Classic Controls. If you want to use your Card Team, you can set that up as well.

Leagues

Online Leagues continue to be a strong choice. Play with 4 to 30 teams in a 10-162 game season or create a tournament with up to 16 teams. Creation options include fantasy drafting, flexible schedules, and custom difficulty sliders. Like Strikes Only? We’ve got you covered. We included the option to change the DH rule so you can have your league play by your rules.

We also have the cool website integration that includes uploaded highlight reels and screenshots that are automatically attached to your league’s site.

TradeAnalyzer.jpg

With the robust Trade Analyzer, you’ll get a glimpse of what attributes are gained and lost. I’ve found this a helpful tool to use when deciding whether to accept a trade, or which players to offer to another team.

I’m excited by our new streamlined navigation and look forward to playing some of you online. Maybe you’ll even get an achievement if you can beat me.

One would definitely hope so, otherwise it's sure to be another year of fail for 2K. Also, that menu system doesn't look particularly intuitive...not too different from last year.
