Hello all, started looking to get into a baseball game today and after many hours of researching and many times of hearing (reading) stay away from 2k9 like it is the grim reaper I arrived here. What you folks have done with this game by doing so many mods is unreal. I have always liked baseball and have played some baseball games over the years so I am familiar but what I am seeing here takes the cake. I am currently researching my own copy via e-bay and a member here who has a copy up for sale. I cannot wait to start modding and tweaking. I have a pretty lofty laptop that should handle the game just fine. I do have a few questions though i will try to be brief.

1. I have read that I CAN use my logitech dual action controller (it is NOT the rumble version) but it may not be great. why is this?

2. Am I understanding correctly that when I add mods, say the 1927 mod then I can just do a folder rename? For instance the way I have done mods on other games in the past is I have made a folder on my desktop named mvp 2005 then within that folder I will have shortcuts to each different version of the game 1927, 1988 etc..

3. I know my system is good enough to run the game but I want to do all the graphic upgrades to the game that I can. It appears from the user's screenshots here that I will be taxing my system quite a bit more than the standard shipped game by doing so. Just to double check let me show you my system specs and you can tell me if I am wrong.

Vista home premium

core 2 duo cpu T5800 @2ghz

3 meg ram

Nvidia GeForce 9600mGT

( Just to clarify, I am pretty knowledgeable about computers I just haven't cared or payed attention to the latest and greatest since I bought this comp. because it has not even blinked in the eyes of many graphic laden games, so I may be a little out of touch with graphic card and processor technology newer than 18 mo.)

Thanks in advance to anyone who answers any of my questions and I cannot wait to get my hands on this game and hopefully become more involved in this community.

#2 is simply, yes. Do a fresh install. Update with at least patch number 2 (Official MVP patches), and then change the name of the folder to whatever you want it to be. For example, if you are installing Total Classics '69, rename it to that, then install the '69 mod over the top of that. If you want other full conversion mods, follow the same steps.

And yes, you can then make a folder on your desktop with a shortcut to each different version of the game you want to have

  • 2 weeks later...

Didn't know where to post this, but playing as the hated Giants, I had a 5-5 game with Sandoval with 5 HRs....never did anything like that before. Wanted to share.

Lol...waaayy off topic!
