krugrdtron
I realize I am new to modding this game, but I'd like to think I'm not totally stupid - that being said, I can't get a single mod to work. I attempted to use the 98 mod, made a clean copy of MVP, installed the mod's contents to that new folder (which seemed like a data folder and an ico.file), copied the data file over the MVP data file, and when I used the exe to start the game a picture of Sosa and McGwire hitting arms loads, only to crash to black. I'm assuming I'm doing something terribly wrong. In advance, I attempted to search for similar problems and read tutorials, but, I'd appreciate any assistance. When you extracted the contents of the '98 mod package, did you extract them to your game folder itself? You need to extract the installer to its own folder and then when it runs, direct it to install to your game folder. Also, which version of the mod are you talking about here? The v1.0 or v1.1 version? If you are talking about v1.1, did you install v1.0 first (which is required for this mod)? Is this the only mod you've had problems with? If not, which other ones are causing you problems? If it is any of the Total Classics mods that I have released, I include step by step instructions on how to install my mods. I'm using version 1, and I unzipped the installer into its own folder, then ran it to install to "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Sports\Total Classics '98." I'm assuming this is where I'm doing something wrong because I got the same error where it loads the screen then crashes to black, and then to desktop. Am I supposed to install it directly in the already existing data folder, or is it correct to do what I did and install it to the directory I selected? I also tried the '88 mod and had the exact same problem.

If not, then that is your problem. The '98 mod installer always puts "Total Classics '98" at the end of the path name, no matter what one you select. Try installing again, but this time carefully look at the installation path after you select it to make sure that it is the exact same as the folder where your copy of MVP is. If necessary, edit the path before letting the installer finish running. Also, make sure that your are installing to the main folder and not the data folder. I spent like...2 hours last night swearing at my computer and trying to break **** as I've been excited about these mods since my brother told me about them ( we played Ken Griffey Jr. baseball for probably 3 years straight...and then Triple Play 95 for another 3). Thanks again, and awesome mod!
andy82
Yeah that was an error that I made twice lol. I was going to address that with a new version but there's some work in progress with the mod so I haven't bothered to do so.
