Vikrant
I haven't played 2k10 too much just yet, but when I do play I am constantly late or early with my power swing. My setting is rookie with contact slider at 50. For someone like me, just trying to figure things out, what is a good setting to set it at. Should I also adjust the CPU's pitch speed and slow it down a bit? Maybe I just need to play more and work on my timing. Also, I've already hit a few home runs and I'm hoping making contact with a power swing doesn't send too many balls out of the park. I didn't notice anything about hitting in the list of bugs people are putting out. Thanks for your help.
pitchleague
yep, I'm kind of the same way. I've only played 3 full games thus far and I, too, am constantly way early or way late on my swings. I've scored 2 runs in the 3 games. Luckily, the pitching and defense I am proficient at. I've had some trouble in the drills, but not as much in a game. I'm going to begin to mess around with the sliders now, with little adjustments. I do believe that the "trading cards" feature is turned off if you adjust them, though. Last year, I know you could make some adjustments to the sliders without turning off the trading cards but I believe I have read that that is not the case this year. Off topic, I notice that on PC the replay cameras work much better than last year, but you still can not save your replays with the right/left stick click like it says to do. Anybody else figure out how to save them? I'm using the Logitech Rumblepad 2, FYI.
Norag
Once you get used to it, I've found there is just an ungodly amount of HR's and gap shots on Rookie. I've played about seven games, and after about the second or third in Spring Training I started averaging about 10 - 14 runs with 3 or 4 HR a game. That's not counting the doubles and such. All without even using the powerstick. As crazy as it sounds, I've tried to use the powerstick and typically pop or fly out. Can't remember one HR as a result of using it. For example, my last game was against KC and I lit Grienke up for 8 in one inning (final was 15-0). I'm definitely about to turn the difficulty up, which I'm sure you will after a few games to get yourself situated and used to it. I really wouldn't worry about tinkering until you up the level past Rookie, as often tinkers at that stage don't reflect the effect they'll have when you go up. Just my two cents. Vikrant
Are you saying that your hitting balls out of the park with a "Contact" swing? My contact swings are weak singles, but maybe it has more to do with the batter at the plate then it does the type of swing. I dunno.
Norag
Yeah, actually just hit my first homerun tonight with the powerstick. I was actually just trying to lift the ball to the outfield for a Sac Fly, but I'll take the three-runner instead. I don't know that its really the batter at the plate even. My most prodigious HR hitters are Votto and Stubbs. I mean Joey's got some pop, but he's hit 6 HR in 7 games (not to mention raking at a .567 clip). I just think it's really more timing than anything, I can't figure out what else could account for it as my team total is sitting at 19 after 8 games and I haven't touched any of the sliders. I may have to try and tweek some of the settings, cause I turned it up to pro and still hit 3 en route to a 9-1 win over the D-backs. It was 1-1 through 5, which was nice for a change. Then again, maybe I just need to bench Votto, LOL.
