Mike Z
I'm gonna be blunt. MVP 2005 is STILL F'N BETTER than MLB 2K. I understand people will disagree, but most people are stupid and want something new rather than something better, so it makes sense. Do I really need to explain why ? Right off the bat, there's check swings in MVP 2005 and they're used realistically. Going deeper into the reasons why MVP 2005 is better than MLB 2k10 spawns a plethora of things that I could only begin to cover with one paragraph, but I'll mention a few that I find obvious and important. The hit variety in MVP not only dwarfs MLB 2K's, but represents major league baseball much more realistically. There's nothing to even argue about in that aspect. How about the swing animations ? MLB 2K's swing animations are a f'in mess. The players loosely grip the bat like fairies ( MLB players grip the bat tightly. It looks stupid any other way. ) and sometimes when they swing, they actually LOOK like fairies. MVP 2005's swing animations are solid and look much more like professional baseball players swinging a bat. Last thing I'm gonna mention is the AI. F it. If you need that explained to you, then you haven't played MVP 2005. The purpose of this post is to commend EA Sports for making MVP 2005 and to commend all of the people on this site who keep MVP 2005 up to date. It's amazing that it still stands over the MLB 2K series. After 5 years, it still is my baseball game of choice on the PC. And ya know what, I know I'm gonna catch some hell from a select few of you, but F you. MVP is better. It's major league baseball. MLB 2K is a strange representation of the sport. But just as you are entitled to your opinion, others are entitled to theirs. And just so you know, if anybody responds with an "F you" to you, I'll ask them to tone it down as well. I apologize for that. That post was a knee jerk reaction to playing MVP 2005 for the first time this year after playing MLB 2K10 for a couple weeks now. It just blows me away every year. I never get used to it.
MarkB
What Jim said. FWIW, I agree, MVP is still better than 2K10, although I consider 2K10 to be a huge improvement over 2K9. If 2K can keep progressing, they do have a workable base for the future - a future which could very well include a baseball game made by 2K which is better than MVP. I'm playing 2K10 for now, but I'm under no illusions that I won't go back to MVP at some stage. I fully expect to.
