Hokieboy
what do you guys think of this:
Dan
Not bad...text is nice but sticks out too much. The background is a tad plain too. Try making some noticeable lighting effects. -BBHD
Hokieboy
thanks for the tips. i couldn't agree more.
RBaggio10
Here is one I just threw together, what do you think. I think it is a little dark.
Dan
Too plain. I know you're just starting out though. Try making backgrounds with filters and some C4D (my post a page or two ago) and brushes. Hookieboy, try using the C4D from the links I provided and packs on www.deviantart.com. Smudge them, blur them...I used a big C4D on fred's sig, notice all the lighting and stuff. -BBHD
RBaggio10
Where do I go on deviantart to get those images?
fred13
Thanks for the sig BBHD!
Dan
Search for "c4d render packs" on deviant art. -BBHD
RBaggio10
Thanks BBHD! Edit: Where do I put them? Textures?
Dan
Wait, so you've downloaded the C4D? I save it in My Documents and then copy the pics out of the archive. I paste them in a subfolder titled C4D (I have many renders) which is in a Renders subfolder in My Pictures. You can just open them up in Photoshop and use them. -BBHD
RBaggio10
Oh ok, thanks.
RBaggio10
Here is one I tried with the render: How does it look?
Dom2662
I love it, can i use it?
Dan
Hmm, not bad...but it needs blended more. I take a black background and put the C4D on it and color it with the render's colors on blur and a blending mode...play around with it. -BBHD
RBaggio10
I love it, can i use it? If you really want to then you can. Hmm, not bad...but it needs blended more. I take a black background and put the C4D on it and color it with the render's colors on blur and a blending mode...play around with it. I will try it. Hokieboy
what do you guys think of this recent sig i made:
Dan
C4D? It's nice. Text ain't that great though (check out my tips thread, just updated a text section), and the main render is squished. If you're resizing, make sure "Constrain Proportions" is on, or if you're using the Transform tool, hold shift and use the corner squares. Nice background, though. -BBHD
Hokieboy
yeh i agree the text sucks. thats not a render by the way. it is like 4 brushes on top of a black background. I am still practicing the renders on sigs but they are not coming out great. oh well.
Hokieboy
after reading the tips, i tried a very very simple lens flare lighting, also using you simple times new roman text.
Dan
Only use the 105mm Prime flare. It looks the best. The only good thing you really get out of the one you used is those tiny bright dots between the text and the render. The background is too simple too...I'd use some really dark C4D there. Put the flare behind the render. -BBHD EDIT: I use Times in ALL CAPS, usually 9-11pt, and Arial in lowercase, between 10-18pt.
Dom2662
i like the Mike Vick one. It's sweet! Nice job.
