Mvp Edit Questions

I know I will get berated for this question and even more for being a Blue Jays fan but I got a few issues with MVP Edit.

I'm using KG's roster (7.31) and modifying the rosters in MVP Edit. I save the roster, import it to the folder where MVP 05 is (it's also got the 08 Mod installed). So I load the game to see if the roster appears and yet it doesn't. I scoured the forums and did what possible solutions and still came up with nothing. I even tried exporting it to MVP 05 and still nothing.

The extension is .mbe that the file has and enables me to edit rosters with MVP Edit. What am I doing wrong?

Or do I need to make a copy of the edited roster and rename it with a different extension like .DAT and if so, what file overwrites the default roster in MVP 05 and where in the directory?

PS - Yeah I know the Jays are off to a great start (as always) but I'm not holding my brerath and will see in July.

If KG's rosters come in .mbe format, you just need to open them in MVPEdit, edit them, then export them to the data\database directory. If you're unsure if the files are being exported to the correct location, check the Date Modified value when looking at the files in Windows Explorer.

You can find a guide on using MVPEdit here.

First of all, what makes you think you will be berated for asking an MVPEdit question or even being a Blue Jays fan? Are we really that bad around here?

As for your MVPEdit issue, try this:

Once you are done editing your rosters with MVPEdit, click the "Export" button on the menubar. When the "Export DAT Files" popup window appears, select the game's data \ database folder. Click OK and the rosters will be exported as a series of .dat files to the data \ database folder. If you look at the data \ database folder, you will see that the datestamp on your .dat files has changed. The next time you start the game, your edited rosters will automatically be pulled in.

hello, i have following problem with mvpedit, im doing a new version of my roster, but i dont know how, it looks likes some players are now hidden or invisible in my roster?

because in mvpedit as you can see in attached picture, in ATL organization shows mvpedit only 23, but when im checking errors in the roster, there is no problem with 23 players? Has anyone same problem?

Probably it will be some error with importing whole NL Future stars team, but probably is a litlle more players hidden

Thanks for advice

When I ran the "Check for Errors" under the Tools menu, I got 142 warnings. Many of your teams, including major league teams, have incomplete lineups, pitching rotations, pitching assignments (e.g. the Florida Marlins do not have a closer assigned), etc. Here are just a few screenshots:

MVEdit will allow you to export your roster as .dat files with these warnings, however, the game will crash when you try to use any of these teams. You will need to fix these problems before you can use the rosters.

The incomplete teams aren't helping, so you will definitely need to clean up your rosters so that you get no warnings or errors. Also, you will want to make sure that none of the players are missing cyberfaces. If you fix the rosters and verify that there are no missing cyberfaces and STILL get the crash, we can try looking into something else as the cause of the crash.

Have you changed anything else besides the rosters? In other words, do you have any other mods installed? Does everything work OK if you use other rosters? Have you verified that all of the player (and manager) faces are in your models.big file?

Just so I'm clear here, you are saying that you are using an "out of the box" installation of MVP2005 (possibly with patches installed) and the only thing you changed was the rosters?

OK, thanks. Now that I know this, I can dig into the problem a little further. I'll let you know if I can figure out what is going on.

After looking at this for a few hours, I found the cause of the crash - You have too many players in the free agent pool.

When you open up the rosters in MVPEdit, you will find that you have 239 free agents. I first deleted 39 free agents (to get to 200 free agents in the pool) and when I exported the rosters and started the game, it still crash. I then deleted 50 more free agents (to get to 150 free agents in the pool) and this time when I exported the rosters and started the game, it came up with no problem. I started an exhibition game and saw no problems.

Therefore, if you open your roster in MVPEdit and reduce the number of free agents, you should be all set. Just as a side note, I did notice that not all of the minor league teams have the same number of players. For example, I found teams that had 21, 22, 23, 24 or 25 players. It doesn't seem to have any effect on the game, but I figured I'd let you know.
