OT: SpanishFly, please stop with the double-posts. I'm sure you can edit the existing one if necessary. :)

The stadiums do look nice, but the grass still seems flat.

Well, the Devil Rays' stadium looks terrible, so mission accomplished guys. Seriously, I can't believe they spent money on that place. Who wouldn't design a ballpark with catwalks very clearly in the way of fly balls? Brilliant.

Yankee Stadium has never thrilled me, but I guess it looks fine. Fenway looks *ridiculously* gorgeous with the buildings outside. Skydome can't really be changed that much, and Camden looks good.

I'm likin' it. Fenway seems to be the biggest change of all.

RC looks like crrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrap

I agree. That jumbotron looks like crap... again!

Did you see the press conference today? It looks like in 2005 there will be display screens on the outfield walls.

The stadium was a multipurpose stadium originally, and the catwalks have always been there. Show me some other ML Quality stadiums around the Tampa-St Pete-Sarasota area and then talk about how bad the Trop is. And try to watch an outside baseball game in FLA. Very hot and uncmfortable, plus, it rains all the freaking time in FLA. So you almost have to have a dome of some kind to keep rain delays out. That was/is the Marlins problem, they can't bring fans to games b/c of so many rainouts. Think before you bash a stadium.

CubsFan-

I'm not questioning the need for a domed stadium Florida. I know like every day in July and August there's downpouring rain around 2-3. My real issue is that the Trop was very poorly designed. You need at least 150 vertical feet in a baseball stadium, and that place definitely does not have it. Plus, it's just a very unattractive place, considering how naturally beautiful the area is. It's a shame, really.

Here's hoping the MM's new stadium actually feels outdoorsy while still having the roof.

I understand this feeling. As a child I attended Mariners games at the King Dome, which was just a really horrible venue. At my first game at Safeco I was so happy to be watching baseball outdoors. About halfway through the game it started raining a bit, and I was disappointed when they started to close the roof. But I have to admit that they did a pretty nice job keeping out the elements while still maintaining that outdoorsy atmosphere. Hopefully they can do the same in Miami.
