Question Regarding File Size For Portrait Files After Nba2K10 Mod Tool Use

Hello,

I downloaded and used the NBA2K10 mod tool to update the photos for a couple teams today and I noticed after I finished that the file sizes were drastically different.

portrait.cdf went from 51MB to 136MB

portrait.iff went from 265KB to 71KB

Now I understand that maybe adding the photos into the cdf file is the explanation for the increase in that file, but how did the portrait.iff file get smaller? That doesn't make sense to me.
