Is Mvp 2005 Finally Dead?

Obviously with 2K's new PC titles (2K9 & 2K10) and Sony's The Show being released for a couple of years now, I'm just wondering if there is anyone else still playing MVP? Not necessarily just a pick up game here or there, but if anyone is running a dynasty or franchise.   I'm on the forums usually every day and haven't really seen anyone discussing the game anymore.

It leaves you to wonder how much of an impact MVP would still have had there been an '09 or even an '10 mod for this year and last.

I personally am enjoying The Show ('10) and haven't touched MVP this year, something I haven't done in the last 4 or 5 years.  Just curious if people aren't playing it, or just aren't talking about playing it.

Good question on if a new, current mod was released for it, would there be more chatter, use, etc...

I'm enjoying my Cubs Dynasty on 2K (even with all its shortcomings), but I still play the TC mods for MVP.

Joe, I may not play dynasties or franchises like you did or many of the others but I do play MVP as much as I have before. I do admit that if there were only one version of Mvp for me to play then it would wear on me. But I got all the Total Conversion mods at my disposal plus the three mods that the Caribe guys have made so there is no chance of me ever being bored. For me, it's always fresh.

And there are other total conversion mods on the way. I don't know what year is coming out next, but I will patiently wait for it and play it.

I'm still diggin' the MVP 08 conversion as well as several of the Total Classics games. I don't have MLB2k or any other baseball games, but right now I'm pretty happy with good ol' MVP.

I don't know if it's dead or not ... but with 2k Sports not fixing the no errors and no injuries bug it might be time to once again dust off MVP 2005 and fire it up!

There may not be a full blown 2010 conversion mod, but there have been some 2010 rosters created. Also, MVP 2005 will never die as long as the classic baseball modders keep pumping out single season mods. I'm busy working on my next mod (with the inspiration for your screen name having a prominent role) and I have plenty of others projects on the drawing board.

OTBJoel is also still busy working on his "Legends from the booth" mod, so that will continue to keep some interested. As time goes on, I can see MVP 2005 becoming (if it hasn't already) a game mainly for classic baseball fans. None of the other games on the market can come close to what we have achieved (and will continue to achieve) in this area.

Im currently playing MVP08 with a 2010 updated rosters, as a Tigers Dynasty, with Legends from the booth giving me Ernie Harwell back from the beyond.

I also run a TC10 84Tigers dynasty as well. playin everyday

Jim825, cant wait to see a TC from the early mid 70s, as i assume you alluded too. those A's teams were some of my Favorites!

That's great news, Jim, as you know, the Total Classics projects are timeless and priceless.  I may not be playing MVP as of late, but I wouldn't be caught dead without it (and the TC mods) installed on my PC.

MVP is the net when all else fails, the Total Classics mods are the icing on the cake.  Along with everyone else, I'll be looking forward to your next release.

I still the TC MVP seasons, and I'm waiting for Homer's legends mod. I refuse to play 2K10 as messed up as it is.

God bless you. That's exactly what I am doing. I am patiently waiting for Homer's mod. I can't wait for that thing to come out because I have been following it ever since he put up his first previews over at Eamods. That looks like it will be a blast. But you know what? I'm like you, I can wait for this with no problem. We've got so many mods right now that it will keep us busy until Homer springs this on us. You got the 1994 mod, right? I don't have to tell you how wonderful that was. Hory worked on that for 18 months until he was satisfied with it and that is one of the best single season mods out there.

And there are new mods coming. There was a thread some time ago that said the 1960's mods were going to get a facelift. So that's something to wait for. Jim is already hard at work locked away in his attic with no contact to outside world working on the next total conversion mod. So that's coming.

And you never know if those great guys at the Caribe site will come out with Caribe 2010. They don't say nothing about it until it is ready and then they surprise us.

So we have some pretty good things to look forward to in this game.

I feel bad for the users on this site that dismiss MVP as an inferior game because they are so in love with 2k10 or the Show. Each of those games has their own pluses and minuses, but MVP has the staying power. I love this game.

yeah, there's no way it's dead. it may not be as popular, but it's too moddable to die right now. there's still plenty of mods we can make with it. as for legends...i have few hundred more guys to make, so the end of the tunnel may be this year :)

Hell no it's not dead. MVP on the PC is one of the most moddable games, and the staff here has kept players like me entertained by new rosters, stadiums, cyberfaces, and edits for a few years now. Sure some folks are jumping on the 2k bandwagon, but personally, I never saw that game the same as MVP.

Playing MVP was one great ride, but every party has to end sometime. I haven't touched it in almost a year or so, especially not since I've got my PS3 and "The Show". There have been times when I wanted to play another game of MVP, just for old times sake, but in the end I didn't. I guess the reason was that I wanted to remember this fantastic game without constantly comparing it to next-gen graphics and stuff.

I'm glad to see that MVP is still played by a lot of people, though. Long live the king! :give_rose:

Oh yea, still playing MVP TC Classic games.

I can see this game going on for sometime as long as one maintains a pc that can play the game. Meaning as tech advances and people change their pc's they may have to set aside a pc just for this game - lol (Stecropper are you there?:)

Yet, hopefully one of the other games, possibly 2K sports, will make a moddable game and modders will create some classics to go with it. The days of seeing the total TC mods may not be realistic of course but 'some' good resemblance of TC gaming may one day be on the newer systems and hence that game/co. will have a following as well.

To TC "Live long and Prosper" in whatever mod(s)that may work.

I think what's really holding MVP back is the lack of new stadiums. It seems so '08 seeing the old Yankee Stadium, doesn't have that '010 feel. Just my opinion, not a request so please no one start asking people to make them.

Plus maybe widescreen incompatibility hurts a lot, since we're playing widescreen games that are next gen.

Same here, but I can tell you that I was tweaking The Show's ('10) sliders with a hair trigger, just looking for a reason to go back to MVP.  To my surprise (shock, really), and from what I'm experiencing, The Show '10 has progressed into one of the best baseball games I've played to date. MVP is still the undisputed king when it comes to longevity and versatility, and I wouldn't doubt if an '11 mod wouldn't breathe another year or two of life into it, and so on, or at least until Sony and EA get their heads out of their collective azzes and get us a real PC game.

As much as I'm enjoying The Show, and until it comes to PC, the proven MVP remains at the top of the list.

Not dead. Not by a long shot. In fact, im going to reinstall it tomorrow and spend most of the weekend on it. I miss it.

Long live MVP!

Well said! People over at the "other website" are still asking for all kinds of files. And now that someone has made a new Yankee Stadium, I expect new life to be breathed into the game. Not dead by a long shot. More like a Phoenix rising from the ashes :D

Defiantly not dead, I'm restarting my '94 dynasty and doing it right this time and couldn't be any more into it as I was before. Plus I'm also in an online league which goes way beyond with MVP than I ever imagine especially when ever 32 team has an active owner loving to play MVP. It brings a better experience to MVP if that is even possible.

Here's the links if anyone is interested:

TSL MVP Online League: http://www.leaguedaddy.com/leagues/?lid=772

I don't think MVP can die out anytime soon as in my eyes still running and running strong while at it.
