flowerbuilder
I'm trying to add portraits to an .mbe roster file through MVPedit. But I'm not having much luck because I am confused by the alpha process. 1. I load my image to Photoshop. Open the channels palette. 2. I use magic wand to select the area of the portrait I want protected. Then go to SELECT>SAVE SELECTION. 3. This is where I think the trouble begins. Do I save the alpha to the current portrait or to a completely new image? Do copy over a different layer? 4. I've tried saving to both the current image and to a new image. However, when I save to the current image, I can't get the alpha to show up in MVPedit. When I save to a new image, it can't be saved as a .bmp file. 5. Basically, what am I supposed to do with the alpha after it's been created? I'm using a basic .bmp portrait that's been cropped to 256x256. I found it here: Peter Bourjos Am I even close to getting this right? A basic walk through would be appreciated or a link to detailed sources. What are the specific portrait and alpha image requirements for MVPedit? I know they need to be .bmp and I believe either 128x128 or 256x256. Anything else? DylanBradbury
Here's a link to a portrait tutorial done by krawhitham.
flowerbuilder
Thanks Dylan. That was exactly what I was looking for. However, after following the steps, the pictures won't show up in MVPedit. I have "show portraits" and "show faces" checked under options. And I'm editing an .mbe file that is located on my desktop (I'm going to export it when I finish editing it). Do I need to have the portraits in a specific folder before adding them? Is it more complicated than simply using "new picture" and "new alpha"? Anyone have this problem, too? Jim825
Do the existing portraits show up in MVPEdit? If not, then you have to make sure that you have set your data directory in the Tools->Options window is set properly. MVPEdit uses the portraits that are in the portrait.big file. If it cannot find the portrait.big file, MVPEdit cannot display the portraits and it will also not properly add any new portraits to portrait.big. flowerbuilder
Portraits already show up. My options are set up as: C:\>Program Files>EA Sports>MVP Baseball 2005>data. I even exported a copy of the roster I'm working on and imported it to MVPedit (rather than loading the .mbe file) to see if that made a difference, but it did not. Do I need to have the portrait and alpha in a specific location before I add them or can they be located anywhere?

Did you make sure that your portrait.big file is not set to Read Only? If it is set that way, MVPEdit will not be able to update the file with your new portrait. flowerbuilder
Read only is not checked, so that's not the problem.
carlitosway21
Read only is not checked, so that's not the problem. to me the same thing happens, i can´t see the portraits nor cyberfaces, and the options settings are checked fine, i have the last update of mvpedit... bctrackboi11
Ok, I'm kind of piggybacking onto the beginning of this post so I don't clutter the boards with another thread... But to those who've successfully imported portraits, how did you import both the alpha and the main bitmap. I've read kraw's tutorial, and followed each step. I'd like to get these images into a .fsh file but I don't know what tool to use that can import both. I tried the second method as well, but don't know how to run the portriats.atn script.
