baseballfans
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190398394834 Stephen Strasburg haven't make the major yet. But his baseball card already price at $16,403. I can't image if he perform what his card price will be. Curt Schilling said, " he'll immediately potentially be the best pitcher in the game. He's that polished." I don't know any card is worth more than a new car, but if Schilling think so should card collector believe him?
tebjr
He may be great in the Majors, but that's completely asinine to expect to get that for a card. What's going to be even more idiotic is the moron that will pay that.
MarkB
If his card ever gets anywhere near that value as a major leaguer, he'll be lucky, and he'll have had a fantastic career. I know little about baseball cards, but 16 grand is nuts. I can buy a car and put down a deposit for a house for that.
DylanBradbury
The bidding has already ended. The bidding started at $1, and worked it's way up. Insane. Bid History

Mike Z
There's baseball cards out there worth more than that - a lot more than that. The tobacco cards from the early 1900s and Mantle's rookie are worth major dollars if they're in good condition, but his card goin' for that is absolutely insane and probably a bad investment. baseballfans
**UPDATE** The guy who purchased this card and interview with ESPN. Was it worth it for the 15 sec of fame? http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?id=5290998 "I was expecting the last-minute bidding to go crazy, but luckily for me it didn't," he said. "I thought the winning bid would be around $22,000. My max would have been $20,000."

What's going to be even more idiotic is the moron that will pay that. I wish that I were the moron who had the money to pay this. Just imagine, having that much money to waste on a card. As far as other cards being worth more than this, no kidding. This is what happens these days when the hype of the media gets involved.

JoeRudi26
I wouldn't pay 16 cents for a Strasberg card. YET. Wait 'till he's in the league long enough to do something. I can't believe anyone would agree to pay it, lol.

Yankee4Life
You've invoked the Bird. rest his soul, and his arm. Cant wish that on anyone. No you can't. Fidrych was a breath of fresh air for major league baseball for those who were lucky enough to see him play during that summer of 1976. I always regretted that he got hurt the next year. I really liked him.
