Hory
Proposed player numbering system for MVP 2005 Non-MLBPA Major Leaguers Barry Bonds (Jon Dowd) - 0092 Brian Daubach (Bailey Osborne) - 0204 Brendan Donnelly (Scott Barcik) - 1638 Jose Flores (Scott Smith) - 1667 Charles Gipson (Chris Parker) - 1056 Matt Herges (Daryle Patterson) - 0374 Corey Lidle (A. Hughes) - 0492 Kerry Ligtenberg (S. Venema) - 0495 Ron Mahay (N. Genereaux) - 0529 Tom Martin (Jake Byrd) - 0536 Frank Menechino (Tim Murphy) - 0574 Lou Merloni (Paul Cruz) - 1101 Kevin Millar (A. Freise) - 0583 Damian Miller (R. Chamberlain) - 0584 Justin Miller (A. Callaway) - 1858 Eddie Oropesa (Ryan Lewis) - 1228 Keith Osik (Angel Brown) - 0664 Shane Spencer (Larry Reed) - 0835 Jamie Walker (D. Smith) - 2062 For non-created players we should follow Tony3's player id list (itself taken from the attrib.dat file ingame) which hopefully will be updated to include new players in MVP 2005 and the ones added in Patch 4 of 2004 sometime soon. Created Minor Leaguers will be allocated numbers from this list according to the organisation they were signed with on opening day (or the first team they signed with after Opening Day, if they were a Free agent on Opening Day). The number will only be changed if a player makes his MLB debut and EA gives him an official number through a roster patch during the season Proposed Player id list ID Numbers 6000+ are created players, and players in the game with fake names (in brackets), based on the educated guesses made here http://forums.simcentral.net/showpost.php?...amp;postcount=1 ANA 6000-6099 2628 Scott Dunn 6001 Erick Aybar (L. Cris987
Like what Halofan did for MVP 2004, I suggest that modders and interested parties agree on a numbering system for MVP 2005, (assuming of course EA keeps the same system as previous years, which I'm 99% sure they are). This will save a lot of time and effort for people if all the roster makers used the same numbering system, so you won't get mismatched player portraits etc. Last year there was a system where each team was allocated 100 id numbers for their created players. eg Angels had 6000-6100. I propose this year we have a similar system but with a list sticked here on the forums where each created player is given a specific number for roster makers to use. We can't really decide on numbers yet, as the game is not even out so we don't know who has made the EA rosters, but I don't think any non-MLBPA are in the game this year so that means a lot of the minor leaguers will have to be created. But yea, I'd be interested to know what others think, as it would be good to have an agreed upon system in place in three weeks time when it comes out. I second that. [bump!]

The H
Great idea! That was quite a bit of a pain in the *** last year... especially when assigning the right portrait to newly created players.
LetsGoOakland
Good idea, I second that, too, since there are TONS of mismatches after the EA update (Jairo Garcia has some Seattle Mariner portrait).
D.M.Z.
Organization of the numbering system is a definate. maybe tony3 will be around again to decifer the hidden number of rookies like he did last year. his work was a valuable resource in finding the id's for players that were not on the default roster but were hidden in the files in case the player was added later in a patch. Hory
I've added the proposed system Should the numbering start at 6000 or lower? 4000 perhaps? That might make it easier for those of us into Total Classics etc.. if 7000-9999 was designated for created historical player ids? The EA Numbering System had used numbers up to 2618 as of the last patch. So I guess numbers up to 3200 or even 3500 should be out of bounds for created players in MVP2005. Kriegz
In that case, starting at 4000 would work fine
D.M.Z.
The numbering system makes sense and looks good, hory. just have to wait and see if there are more fake names added and where the manager id's are located as well. on march 1st, many of us will be tearing apart the dat files minutes after testing out the game. :D
Pirate
No offence it's a good idea but we don't have an editor... and without an editor this is all moot correct? Or is Rglass updating the editor, I thought he was not.
Hory
This is true, the editor may or may not be updated and/or work with 2005, so this may indeed be moot, though I hope not, you can still edit the attrib.dat file with notepad too. D.M.Z.
A few things i noticed: All of the fake players in the major leagues have jersey #86. When i opened up the portrait big file in ea graph, the managers photos began a 5003.fsh, which is a picture of Dusty Baker. the managers photos go up to Felipe Alou, 5043. there isn't 40 managers obviously, some of the numbers are not used between 5003-5043. Hory, you may want to change the value of the angels from 5000 to a higher number because of the managers. maybe a shift of all teams, starting with the angels at 5100. numbers 2653-2665 are old time players (mantle is 2653). numbers 2118-2160 are old timers as well (yount is 2160). the last photo of current major leaguers is fsh 2644 who is a player from Detroit. the current players with the 2600's id are those who have a year or less mlb experience. Bonds photo isn't hidden in the portrait big file, like it was in the 2004 version.

Thanks in advance.
