yukon2k
i don't see any posts or interviews that mention if the owner or franchise mode lets you play any scheduled league game, not just your favorite team and it's minor leagues. i've been a high heat baseball fan, but had to switch to mvp last year. after installing the game, i uninstalled it after a couple of days and threw it on the shelf with all of my old unused games when i noticed i could only play a league game with one team instead of any league game on the schedule with any 2 league teams. i've never seen a sports game that doesn't let you play a game with all of the teams. i realize you can do that in the other mode, but that's an exhibition game that doesn't save standings or stats. in other words, if my team is seattle, i don't want to be able to only play seattle's games. if, as another example, atlanta is playing st. louis, i'd like to be able to play that game the same way i play the seattle games. nothing in any of the interviews or posts tells me the game can do this. if it's like last year's, i won't buy it. i'll go back to high heat even though the graphics aren't as great. i can't get ea sports to return phone calls or e-mails to get my question answered. carter
I don't understand why you want to play an in season game with another team? That's what exhibition games are for. It's not fair if you affect the outcome of an in-season game. Why would you want to hit a homer with Pujols and have it count in the standings if you are Seattle? I think EA prevents this because they are trying to push the whole franchise idea and they want you to concentrate on that. Afterall, between the mlb club and the three levels of minor league teams you should have enough games to play. However, I would like to see EA incorporate the ability to control 2 teams during the season. It would be great if you could face off against a brother or friend in the same season... or even take on 2 teams yourself. I personally used to always take one AL and one NL team in High Heat... It was great when they met in the World Series.
yukon2k
i want to play a regular season and play any games on the schedule. you don't see nba live where you can only play one team's games - you don't see madden where you can only play one team's games. i want to play games with a number of teams and see a lot of players. why would i want to be seattle and only see about 2/3 of the a.l. only teams and not be able to play a game or watch pujols, bonds, pedro, or delgado in another game all year. granted, i can play an exhibition game- do you like to watch any sport's exhibition games? - i don't. when i play or watch a game, i like to see the teams' standings and see what the current stats are for a player as he bats. when you watch basketball, baseball, or football on tv, do you only watch one team's games and don't pay any attention to all of the other teams? every other sports game ever made allows you to play any league scheduled games with any 2 teams scheduled - not this one. i'm not a thumb-jockey. i do like realism is games. i like to set the lineups and strategies and set the pc for cpu vs cpu and watch the games like watching a tv game. i know a lot of the console users just want the action just like playing a baseball video game at the arcade and don't really care about standings or stats, but i do. MarkB
"when you watch basketball, baseball, or football on tv, do you only watch one team's games and don't pay any attention to all of the other teams?" If you are the owner of another team, the yes, you probably do. I don't think George Steinbrenner (for example) would be too pissed off at missing the Red Sox @ Blue Jays game on a Thursday night. hoserthehorrible
I think the request to be able to control and play more than one team is a very valid request. There's lots of reasons.... Perhaps I want to control my favorite AL team AND my favorite NL team. Can't do that with MVP. Perhaps I have 3 sons and each of us want to pick a team and control them in franchise mode, play their games, simulate their games, go head to head, etc. Can't do that in MVP. Perhaps I want to make all the transactions that are really occuring in the major leagues to keep all the teams in franchise mode accurate with their real life counterparts. I at least need to be able to control transactions for every team in order to be able to do this. Can't do it with MVP. Perhaps I simply want to play or simulate all the games with one franchise in the NL but play a few games with AL teams to enjoy the AL stadiums and all the AL players. Can't do that with MVP. I believe MVP is a very good game. I do not understand why they restrict who you can control in franchise mode though.
carter
I see your point horsethehorrible. For me it's not that big of a deal though, I'm still buying the game.
SwinginSoriano
It'd only be cool to play another team's game if lets say a great pitching duel was in order, lets say Mulder vs Martinez, that'd be a fun game. Otherwise, who cares?
yukon2k
granted, steinbrenner doesn't care about watching any n.l. games. i'm talking as a baseball fan and a baseball game nut- not a real team owner. ea sports has put in the owner mode this year for people that like to be the owner and set everything up for their team. why can't they also have the other mode like every other game for the rest of us? squeegeedeadly
You should be able to take control of all teams if you care to do so. There really is no reason to lock this feature. "It's not fair if you affect the outcome of an in-season game. Why would you want to hit a homer with Pujols and have it count in the standings if you are Seattle?" We're not talking about a multiplayer season here. Do you really think the computer would feel cheated if I took control of their franchise? Dont thing so. And you can't even watch the playoff's games if you've been eliminated. You can watch/play the All-Star game but not the playoffs. Tell me what is more important the playoffs or the all-star game? JaFFiTh
Doesn't even matter for me since I almost always play for the Jays anyways, I don't really pay attention to other teams that much, same with basketball, hockey...eventhough I do know how the players play, how good they are on other teams, but still focus with my teams more than anything
LetsGoOakland
I guess people just want the option. I do like the fact that I can play any game on the Madden schedule. I rarely use it but sometimes I want to play the Super Bowl just to see what they do with the stadium (there's a few fake ones and I think they just repeat the last fake one over until the 30 years is up). I don't blame people for wanting that option. In football, I think it's a bit more logical to be able to play any game since you only get 16 regular season games. In baseball, however, you have 162 of your own games, plus all three of your minor leagues this year. So it's safe to say you'd have your hands full. Perhaps, people just want to see a player on his new team. If I had to choose, I'd want to play the playoffs more so than the regular season. Also, someone on the OS forums had mentioned this but I'd want to have a playoff mode where I could select the eight teams and seedings with stat tracking. Would be fun to do since you could have whoever you wanted playing and not have to "hope for the best" that the teams you want would make it Hell, if you had playoff mode and classic teams loaded up, you could do your own little "Who's the greatest team of all-time?" tournament if you wanted to. MLB2006 had this option a few years back (not sure about recently).
jg2977
I'd like to be able to play games in both NL and AL Stadiums. I'm doing my franchise with the Yankees, but if I can't control more than one team, then I'll just do another franchise with the Mets at the same time. That way I could see the players and stadiums in both leagues.
Anaxamand0r
It'd only be cool to play another team's game if lets say a great pitching duel was in order, lets say Mulder vs Martinez, that'd be a fun game. Otherwise, who cares? Who cares? People, that's who. Maybe you want to play or WATCH a Mets-Yankees game even though you're playing as Detroit. Maybe a guy you've never heard of gets hot and you want to see him first hand. Maybe you just played through a whole damn season and, even though you're out of the playoffs, you still want to watch the World Series. There are a ton of reasons people want to play or watch games their team's not involved in. And who cares if it alters your dynasty? If you don't want your dynasty altered, you won't do it, or you'll just WATCH. No rational reason to deny this option.

tsbraves
I'm not sure I'd ever really play with two teams simultaneously but the reason I really want control is to be able to keep up with realistic, real life roster changes for all teams. Let's say the Big Unit goes down for the season in real life but my Dynasty team is the Red Sox.. Well I can't put Johnson down or in any way change the pitching rotation to mirror the real MLB season. MVP doesn't allow me to tinker with anything other than my one team. For folks who like to keep their computer season much like the real season(and I don't think I'm the only one) it's a real necessity. I just can't figure why EA Sports allows you to do this in games like NBA LIVE and MADDEN, yet keep it out of MVP.
