Mykal94
MVP Baseball 2005. Where do I start? From the time I first popped it into my silver Nintendo Gamecube, it has been the best baseball game that I have ever played. Then slowly my 'Cube became outdated and slightly broken, so I invested in a brand new, shiny XBox 360. I figured "How bad could 2K be, right?" MLB 2K6= dust collector. So for 2 years there had been a hole in my life, where baseball gaming had been. Every year I looked up if there was going to be a new MVP Baseball game made, knowing full well that there was no way. Until one day, a search returned for "MVP Baseball 2007". My heart skipped; the result led me to this website right here. Immediately, I went to roster download to see how new the most recent update was. 6 days. Slowly I discovered stadiums, uniforms, cyberfaces. I had found heaven. Within hours, I had gone to my local video game store, picked up MVP for PC, and installed it with the works. Finally baseball video games had made it back into my life. But last year I got a PS3, The Show took over. It was like a newer MVP. Surely, I was done with MVP. Not so fast, around rolls this year. The Show '11= frustrating dud. And so here I am again. Like a kid in a candy shop, picking out all the newest mods. Just when I thought I had been weaned off MVP, I ended up right here. So why? Is it because nobody can make a good game anymore? Or is it because MVP was "hall of fame" worthy, so to speak? I don't know, and frankly it doesn't matter so much to me. As long as I'm back here, at home, and happy with MVP. In conclusion, I guess what I'm saying is thank you to everybody here, for working so hard for as long as you have. And hopefully, into the future as well. And although I wrote this sort of a joke, as a cheesy love story, I really mean it. You guys are great. Long live MVP Baseball.
dennisjames71
Hey those are some awesome sentiments and I echo them as well. I bought MLB 2k10 for the XBOX 360 this year; but only play it occasionally. MVP Baseball 2005 was destined to be long-lasting because it’s the absolute most versatile baseball video game in my opinion. I have to be honest though; if it wasn’t for the fantastic updates (MVP 07/08) and all of the Total Conversion Mods, I probably would not be playing this game anymore. But thankfully for all the great contributions, large or small, it continues to be the best and most enjoyable baseball game I have EVER played (and still do). MVP Baseball 2005. Where do I start? Padres67
If you are a classic baseball enthusiast then MVP is still the best. Here is just one example; recently I used the teams from 1969 Total classics and mvp edit to create my own dynasty. I changed some teams around to fit my own unique dynasty. I had the '69 Dodgers become the '63 Dodgers, '69 Cardinals to '67 Cards, '69 Reds to '70 Reds, '69 Braves to the '93 Braves, '69 Padres to '98 Padres, '69 Astros to '05 Astros, '69 Phillies to '64 Phillies, '69 Pirates to '71 Pirates '69 Expos to '94 Expos '69 Giants to '62 Giants. With legends from the booth almost all the players have their names announced. There is virtually a limitless supply of things you can do with this game. I now am playing these teams in place of the '69 teams- '54 Indians,'66 Orioles, '04 Red Sox, '24 Senators, '62 Yankees, '68 Tigers, '74 A's, '69 Twins stayed the same, '02 Angels, '77 Royals, '05 White Sox, '97 Mariners. I'm having a blast. In my mind this game will keep us classic guys going for some time.
Yankee4Life
Nice thread. Really nice thread. I feel the same way about this game. I love MVP. By the way, did any of you ever notice that no one here talks of 2K's games in the same reverence as we do MVP? Not even the improved 2k10 is talked of as good as we do Mvp. Padres67
Absolutely true. Maybe they enjoy the game but at some point you are still playing the same teams over and over. Not with this game. I'm on 5 years and counting. I have played over 3,000 classic games. Thanks again to all of you great modders out there. I have a high five for each of you. CountryBumpkin
Here...Here! *Raises Large Beer Mug* Going on my 13th season in my Rays franchise. I have no plans to change unless there is a true breakthrough game that lands on the PC. As a longtime High Heat guy...I'm extremely loyal to a good game. And this one does belong in the 'Hall of Fame'.

I think it only appeals to hardcore baseball fans anymore.
redeck
Just found this thread this morning, and wanted to say Mykal94 that what you wrote really hits home to me as far as action baseball games go. as far as any baseball games go for that matter. :drinks:
SubwayGuy
I found this site recently because I've been making limited modifications to MVP05 for years using the Player Editor. I did complete MLB rosters (with some top prospects) and complete AAA/AA/A rosters for the Yankees for both 2007 and 2008 and distributed them to freinds back in the day. I've gotten tired of the day in/day out grind of keeping constantly updated rosters so I've begun making my two opuses if you will since I've been doing similar with NHL 2002 for years: Best in Recent Memory Rosters I came here because I am finalizing everything using player editor on my PS2. Someday I hope to buy the PC game and begin modding it with the legend players on it. Imagine the 1998 Yankees with Alex Rodriguez at 3B and Hideki Matsui in LF. With Clemens and Wells in the same rotation. Imagine a Cleveland Indians lineup with both Juan Gonzalez and Manny Ramirez. The Phillies with Howard, Abreu, Burrell, Ibanez, Rolen, Rollins and Utley. The Cardinals with McGwire, Pujols, Lankford, and Holliday The 2002 Angels with Mo Vaughn at DH instead of Brad Fullmer, and Chuck Finley in the rotation Basically that's been my project for PS2. Recent good players on whatever team they played for in real life that I want to put them on, all ranked at a specific point in their career. Once I do it for PS2 I want to do it for PC, and on PC I'd like to explore adding faces, projected stats, career stats, modifying attributes that can't be edited in player editor (names with hyphens, "jr", height/weight). Like I said been doing similar in NHL 2002 as much as possible using their player editor which allows you to "find" players from older versions of the game. But MVP 05 is the best baseball game I've ever played. Best NHL game I ever played is a tossup between 93, 94, 96 (Genesis), or 2002 (PS2/PC). rollinsman74
i don't think i've ever posted on here before. it is so nice to see other people feel the same way about this game. i have been updating the rosters in the most "analog" of ways since it came out. then, back in '07 i think? i had to start over. which was fantastic in itself. i still play on the original xbox and i use the in-game player editor. this will probably be my last year doing so because i'm simply running out of minor leaguers to edit. and soon i'd have to make 6'7'' pitchers 5'9'' and it just wouldn't be good enough. maybe it will... i am finally getting the urge to buy a ps3 and one of the new games. but i'm also still playing this game, it is just fantasy team time in the winter. though i can't wait to play with garza and pena on the cubs this year! even the simple act of watching games on tv is more fun when i'm writing down what color bat they use and the speeds and movements of pitchers. i probably know more about players simply because i edit this game. i've never shared my rosters with anyone since i don't know anyone as in love with this game as i am, so when i found this website a while back it was like i was walking into an a.a. meeting and hugging men awkwardly. anyways i don't have a real point to this post. just saying that there is one more 2k5'er out there signing bartolo colón to the yankees today. bluejays50
this is the best game ever but i hope you guys dont give up on it if ea starts making mlb games again because it isnt a guarantee that it would be as good and ea seem's to not car anymore about pc customers. I actually dont really like ea besides this game, for what they have done with exclusive deals, crappy games because of exclusive deals and leaving out pc customers

There is extremely limited console support here anymore. When the site was moved to a new server a few months ago, the forums that saw little to no activity were not brought over. Yankee4Life
I jumped back into this thread again tonight because after I got done playing a game of Mvp, this is exactly what I thought of this game. For a few reasons, I felt like playing an exhibition game tonight in the 1951 season mod. I got a soft spot for the '51 season. Lately, the 1951 mod has had some very nice enhancements. OTBJoel's audio mod is now a part of the game, so I can now listen to Vin Scully, Mel Allen and Ernie Harwell do the play by play. And it sounds great. Also, Dennis James -there's that man again- released nine new uniform updates for the 1951 mod. I'm telling you, it was great. The announcers, the old stadium, the players, the new uniforms. I didn't need anything else. Once again boys, I'll pass on the kool-aid that the 2k fanboys drink. When I have Mvp, I don't want anything else. A few screenies from tonight's Boston Braves at St. Louis Browns game. Ned Garver of the Browns (20-12 in 1951) registers a strikeout in the early innings. Garver went on to pitch a complete game, winning 8 - 2 and giving up only seven hits. Jim Delsing is safe at first as Boston's Earl Torgerson reaches for a wide throw. Boston's Walker Cooper runs out of the batter's box on his way to first with his second hit of the afternoon. This hit however would be his last of the day because... ...he hurt his ankle breaking up a double play and had to leave the game. Ken Wood of St. Louis barely beats the throw to third. Wood would score moments later. Earl Torgerson had no trouble reaching third base because of his triple that hit off the right field wall and bounced towards right center field. Sibby Sisti of Boston is tagged out at first base for the final out of the game. Final score: St. Louis 8, Boston 2 as the Browns congratulate each other.
