Modding 101

I kind of stumbled onto this site after getting frustrated with the awful port of 2k10 to PC and everything looks great! That said, this site is quite large and I can't seem to find a "Modding 101" guide on how to get started with all of these mods. I have also seen reference to something called TiT to install mods I think? But the eamods.com site doesn't work and it seems like that's where I need to go...I'm a bit confused and overwhelmed at this point. Can anyone help?

...wow. Just wow.

Look on the front page. Left side, under MVP Guides.

Front page where? Forums? MVP Mods? Can't find MVP Guides. Perhaps someone who is a bit less put-out can help. I hope it's not a crime on this board to be a new user.

I'm going to tell you something right now and this is not a reflection on you alone because you are not the only one who has been doing this, but I am getting really fed up with new users like you who come in here and get all pissy and whiny because they got an answer to one or more of their questions in a way that they didn't like.

You want to learn how to install these mods and take advantage of all that is offered here? That's great. There is room here for everyone and you are more than welcome. And that other admin who came in here and answered your question did just that. Your starting point for your questions should begin at those two threads that are linked on the front page, the Mvp Baseball 2005 for Dummies thread and The Big Nasty All-encompassing FAQ list. And since you did say you found it you can see that these two helpful threads were not exactly hidden from you at all.

What makes that admin that was "so put out" by your question is that he was one of the guys that actually took the time to write one of those threads for everyone to go to and utilize. What probably frustrates him is people like you who don't care to either look at the front page close enough or search the forums for some answers. It's almost like that guy who was "so put out" by your question probably feels that writing that FAQ list for the new and experienced users here was just a total waste of time because they don't bother to read the God damn thing anyways and instead they jump in the forums feet first and post questions that they....YEP...could have found answers to if they had read those two threads. So maybe, JUST MAYBE now you can understand why that big bad admin came in here and was so put out by your question and at the same time you can understand that you did not receive "such a sarcastic response from an admin," but rather a response made out of frustration because you new users who join up are simply allergic to doing any kind of reading by yourself and you get too damn sensitive when the veteran users here are put off by it.

And I have had it with this kind of attitude from new sign-ups here. You will find out you will get a lot of help around here once these guys see that you try to do things for yourself first instead of not bothering to do any searching for yourself.

You want proof of this? Check out this thread right here. A user had a question and guess who came in and tried to help him? Yeah, the same terrible, evil, unhappy admin that came in your thread. And do you notice that another user came in and joined up to try to help solve and answer the question? That's how things work around here. While that thread did not have anything to do with installing mods or anything like that I wanted to show you how things really are here. You get from this site what you put in it. You want to bitch and moan and not do any searching for yourself and get upset when someone notices it, you won't get far. And that goes not just for you but for every new user who joins up and automatically thinks we got to bend down and owe you something.

I'm done.

Nevermind, found it. BTW, disappointing to get such a sarcastic response from an admin.

Sarcastic? My friend, you haven't seen the tip of my sarcasm.

I wasn't being sarcastic, I was, and am, genuinely surprised at this type of thread coming up so soon after we put the link back. We had the link (and appropriate image) on the front page of the site for a long time, then upgraded the forum software, which removed it. We only recently added it back, and figured it had been put in a location where really anyone looking for it would have a hard time missing it. I mean, it's linked to in a large image, directly to the left of the forum block listing the newest posts on the site. I honestly don't see how anyone could go to MVPMods.com, scroll up and down the page and not see it - it's that clear.

And no, it's obviously not a crime to be a new user - none of us would be here otherwise. It's just nice when people do their own research and can think for themselves. Not saying that you can't - again, I'm just surprised.

Wow.

Great way to start off on the wrong foot around here. You prima donna new users who start off complaining around here is just a bit too much. If you don't like how it is here you are more than welcome to turn around and go back to the 2K forums.
