jpup
The X800 XT is a great card, but what you should get all depends on your gaming needs. If you're not a hardcore gamer or you're on a budget why would you want to get a $400-$500 card like an X800 XT? I play 2 games - MVP (mostly) and Madden so I have no use for a top of the line card. I have an ancient ATI Radeon 9200 128 MB and I will have no problems playing MVP 2005, just like I didn't for 2004. This is my 2nd ATI card and both have worked to perfection. you are right, but the guy asked what the best card was. I answered him, but you are right. I have a 9600 XT and it works great. The H
This is the best card made right now. I would suggest going to another site to get advice, most of these guys don't know what they are talking about. Hey! I take that personally, hahaha. I currently have an ATI AIW 9800 Pro 128MB in my HTPC, a nVidia 6600 GT 128MB AGP in my current primary PC (soon to become my 'Linux-only' PC) and I'm currently waiting for a nVidia 6800 GT OC 256MB PCI-E for my new SLI powerhouse, which I'm building as we speak. brewha202002
What's the best graphic card to play games on? You answer to this is completely subjective to the person that will answer this. People who love Nividia will tell you Nividia, people who love ATI will tell you ATI. Go on computer forums and you will see some serious flamewars when people discuss this topic. It is compared to the wars that take place between Sega Fanboys and EA Fanboys. Anyhow, I think the Nividia 6800GT or Ultra is the best card on the market. Equally compared, ATI to model I believe is the X800 series. Not positive though. Keep in mind, these cards are top end models ranging from 320.00 - 480.00. MauerPower
The H, How do you know if your computer is PCI-E compatible?
The H
Your motherboard should have PCI-Express slots (x16, x2 or x1). If you can give me the model, I can check for you, but if you don't have it, then the only way to do it is opening the case and checking the motherboard directly. Check this picture out and you'll notice the difference between standard PCI, PCI Express x16 and x1. From top to bottom: PCI-E x1 PCI-E x1 PCI-E x16 Standard PCI Standard PCI Standard PCI

Goldensuitcase
Ok, now I am confused all over again. I used to be somewhat knowledgable in what to look for but now cant differentiate because I am ignorant. So someone help me again. I bought a e-GeForce FX 128 MB DDR AGP and it did not fit my computer. So does that mean that my computer is only able to hold PCI video cards? And if so, which card is the best economically, as in cheapest while maintaining good performance? I'm speaking like $

MauerPower
What's your budget? Well, I'd like to stay under 70-80 dollars. But I'd love to get a card with serious power.
abhall
Well, I'd like to stay under 70-80 dollars. But I'd love to get a card with serious power. You won't be able to get a card with serious power for $70-$80 bucks. Around that price range: ATI Radeon 9600 128 MB GE Force FX 5600 128 MB GE Force4 TI 4200 128 MB I'd go with the ATI......... Here is one from new egg. It is a Geforce FX5200 256MB. I would pay the extra 24.99 for 256MB card if you are going to stay within the FX5200 series. brewha202002
Keep in mind that you can overclock these cards using tools from Nividia. The FX5200 256MB card that is just posted can be overclocked to speeds of 315/425. I would not recommend this unless you have aduquate case cooling for the Motherboard. snowles
Ugh, I feel inadequate now: NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX 200, 64mB. I remember when it was top of the line. Ah well, as soon as my tax return comes in, it's a 256mB card. No more slow motion on The Punisher for me

Ah well, as soon as my tax return comes in, it's a 256mB card. No more slow motion on The Punisher for me Snowles, don't let the MB fool ya. In the world of Video Cards, the Nividia Geforce FX 5200 256MB card is still considered low end. Nividia is now in there 6XXX series cards. You can pay up to 500.00 dollars for a 6800 ultra card from Nividia. However, when it comes to MVP, low end Video Cards will run this game fine with setting maxed out. It seems as though that people that have higher end computer systems are experiencing problems. I know, because I am one of them. The Geforce FX 5200 256MB would be an extremely great upgrade from your MX200 64MB card. That would not be a bad upgrade for 74.99 in my opinion. Also, keep in mind that ATI makes awesome video cards as well.
