APR
Do you guys think baseball games shold have a contact button for a swing and or a power button, or, should they have just one swing button? Reason being is that I found out that MLB 2k5 has this, and I think it makes the game worse than it already is.
LetsGoOakland
One swing button. World Series Baseball for Sega Genesis had a three button option - A) Contact, Normal, C) Power and I hated it. I like having to pull a ball or trying to inside out it because how you hit it depends on the type of pitch throwing at you. Any decent hitter knows not to just swing for the fences before getting into the batter's box.
CCH3900
agreed EA's pure swing system is dynamite
APR
I totally agree with you guys, having the option to "technically" be able to homer on command makes no sense to me.
abhall
agreed EA's pure swing system is dynamite In MVP 2004 "swinging up" was a power button in a sense. It was very rare with power hitters that I didn't swing up. And the reason was simple probability. I was a lot more successful in getting hits (especially HR's & extra base hits) when swinging up and I assume everyone else was as well. I like the pure swing system, but I'm hoping that "swinging up" doesn't produce as many HR's and produces more fly balls/outs.
LetsGoOakland
I agree but the theory of a pure swing system is better than just giving up and going with the "to POWER or not to POWER."

Don't get me wrong, I love the pure swing system and I love the game. And the power/no power option is assanine. I just became addicted to "swinging up", mainly with power hitters. The result was way to many HR's. I'm just hoping that the degree of success using swinging up is reduced this year.
A_Dub
Yea hopefully it gets turned down a little but sliders changed most of that problem with being able to hit homers every other time with good hitters.
Kccitystar
No, what they need to have is a more sensitive approach to the timing involved in the swing. Different timing can tell the difference between a homerun and a deep fly ball.
The H
KC: Apparently they are doing that... the batting logic seems to be more advanced this year, at least according to what I've seen in many videos.
Kelvarr
I hate when games have a contact and power button separately. In a way, I also hate how MVP does it with down for groundball, middle for linedrive, up for flyball. I like how ASB did it, where you just aim for the ball and press a button. Or the zone hititng in High Heat. However, after reviewing and playing with it....MVP's may be better than that, because in real life you can try to intentionally pull a flyball or a slap a grounder the other way.
