Minor League Rosters

Will the game have made-up players for the minors again, or will there be real minor leaguers? Baseball America says on their website about MVP 2005L "This year's edition is better than ever, including top prospects and player ratings by Baseball America!"

Is that just their Top 10 for each team, or what? Anybody know?

And probably the more important question - in a ballpark figure, how long will it be before we see a full minor league roster mods? :D Or, at least, for the Cubs? One of the biggest tasks for me last year was the compiling (and waiting) of full roster pictures, etc., before I could start my dynasty! Any approximations?? I mean, is it going to be a matter of days? weeks? months?

Hey JPUP, if you can, please make each team as exact as they are in real life. none of that top 50 prospect stuff. It just makes more sense for people to want to add there own players if they want to later than to have ALL-Star minor leagfue teams play eachother, right?

Also, I thought these rosters were going to be done by more than one person, right? And if each team has it's top 10 prospects in the game already, that leaves only 55 players for each organization to work with and thats not counting if they are real or not.

:)

I know this link was posted earlier (at least I think it was), but the first question on the page relates to this thread:

Q: Will there be any representation of the minor leagues in MVP Baseball 2005? If so, will players be able to play as minor league teams and/or players?

A: MVP Baseball 2004 was the first game to introduce actual authentic and playable Minor League teams. This year we’ve added Single-A teams to go with the Double-A and Triple-A teams to bring our total minor league roster to 90 teams. Despite our best efforts we don’t have actual players.

Here's the link to the interview.

I wish they would have done what EA did with College Football. All you would have to do is rename the player and the ratings are what they should be. Atleast for AAA level or guys that didn't play a major league game in 2004 but have played in years past. I do not see why it is so impossible to do that in one game and not for another.

I wonder if we'll be pleasantly surprised that they followed this format (real stats, fake names). After all, what was all that talk about Baseball America being involved with the prospects?

EDIT: This is what I mean:

From a link posted here earlier this month. Confusing.

Why the hell can't they use the real names? Just this year, to go out with a bang.

because of something that has to with the minors not having a players association or EA not being liscenced with the minors. EA would not want to go out with a bang because they would get sued and forced to pay big fines, losing money after losing your liscensing with the MLB well thats just bad.

Yep. A minor league prospect would have to play at least one game in the MLB for their name to be put into the game. In other words, the player has to be in the MLB Players' Association for EA to be able to use them in the game.

they didn't have prospects with fake names last year in most cases and I doubt we'll see it this year ...

as far as when to see rosters, I don't know about jpup, but my set will take some time with the addition of A ball (which honestly might be left out of the plan except for top prospects who fall into that category until after the season is rolling) ... besides, we all know EA has probably royally screwed up the MLB enough that fixing that will be a major concern as well ...

we also have to consider that until rglass gives us an editor (if he does), nothing can really be done!

Silly. The majority of people preferred having the top prospects from the lower levels consolidated at A-ball. If you're going to play with a dynasty and go ahead years, cutting top prospects in the low minors (often the top prospects in systems) out of the roster set is foolish.

Last year, for example, this would have off the top of my head, left roster sets without Scott Kazmir (Mets), Hanley Ramirez (Red Sox), Cole Hamels (Phillies), Clint Everts (Expos), Jeff Franceour (Braves), Jeremy Hermida (Marlins). That's #1 prospects for teams totally taken out of a dynasty roster set.

To do that for the sake of getting in the backup high-A SS is asinine, IMO.

Hopefully, Jpup will realize that as well.
