okcochise
Guys have done excellent work modifying ballparks to recreate classic stadiums. My question is how one might extract images from those ballparks? I'm talking about images slightly elevated from behind home plate so that center field is straight ahead and you can see the left and right foul poles to the walls and beyond? I found one such park (attached) but how can I find the others? I am most interested in Metropolitan Stadium, KC Municipal Stadium but would also like to find parks which have no real photos available from those perspectives like Colt Stadium and Jarry Parc. Thank you, Jeff
dennisjames71
Hey Jeff, Well to start with...the best source I have found for a large variety of ballpark photos is Baseball Fever. Here is the link to the "Ballpark" section: http://www.baseball-fever.com/forumdisplay.php?58-Ballparks-Stadiums-amp-Green-Diamonds There is a "Search Forum" button on the right-hand side where you can type KC Municipal for example and it will filter out the choices. Quality and sizes of the images vary but I think it's the best overall website to find what you may be looking for. As far as "extracting images" from the ballpark photos; that's that hard part. If you want to create new 3-d shapes for the stadiums, you have to do that with O-edit and/or Z-Mod. Adding ads and re-coloring/texturizing is generally done with Photoshop and Illustrator. Hope this helps, Dennis Guys have done excellent work modifying ballparks to recreate classic stadiums. My question is how one might extract images from those ballparks? okcochise
Thank you, Dennis. Yes, I have found some great backdrops on Baseball fever forum. In fact I went through most every post. It was on another forum (OOTP) that someone posted Metropolitan Stadium and advised it was from MvpMods site which is how I came here. I got the 2005 game and downloaded two classic seasons but as impressive as the stadiums are, I cant seem to figure out how to get a screen shot like the one I posted above which was found here on this site. Anyway, I appreciate your response. Jeff Hey Jeff, Well to start with...the best source I have found for a large variety of ballpark photos is Baseball Fever. angryrat
There is no left fielder in that image you posted in the first post.
emath2432
Well, do a replay in game, get the angle you want, and use the print screen button on your keyboard. Then just open a photo editor, and hit paste (in the edit menu), and then save what you get. I have been told that this doesn't work on all PCs, but I have never had one that it did not work on. Hitting the print screen button saves a screen shot, and then all you have to do is paste it in a photo editor, as I mentioned above.
angryrat
If you use a program like FRAPS, you can take multiple screen captures at one time. This eliminates the need to switch back and forth between the game and your desktop.
okcochise
Yes I know. I noticed that too. I am guessing that the homemade LA Coliseum was made from another stadium and since the left field line is so small, the game screen does not have space for a left fielder. I was trying to find him in the stands in left field which is where he must be. Btw, I got that photo on this site somewhere. There is no left fielder in that image you posted in the first post. emath2432
I have used that stadium, the LFer just plays very shallow. Not sure where he is in that specific shot.
okcochise
I have installed 1961, 1967 and 1969 and I have no clue how to cycle through stadiums and select a vantage point for doing a screen shot. Its obviously possible to do since backdrops are being posted. Anyone reading this, if you have the knowledge to extract images from the created stadiums, I would be obliged for the following parks, positioned much like the LA Coliseum which is included in this thread. KC Municipal Metropolitan (Minnesota) Jarry Parc (Montreal) Colt Stadium (Houston) Sicks Stadium (Seattle) Seal Stadium (San Francisco) Wrigley Field (Los Angeles) Polo Grounds (New York) Ebbetts Field (Brooklyn) Sportsman Park (St Louis) These 10 parks are generally the parks most sought after since there doesnt seem to be any real color images from behind (upper) home plate available. If they're available in MVP 2005 (meaning someone has created them) and its possible to extract, I would be obliged to your sharing it here. emath2432
Well, I have most all of those stadiums, but I gotta be honest. I loaded the game up for the first time in nearly 10 months.... I can't figure out how to get those angles. I can get a ton higher, but it looks more like a shot you'd get from the blimp, as opposed to the stands behind home plate. I assume someone would have to change the camera angles to get what you want... Either that or in the time I have not been playing the game, I just forgot how to do it. Sorry. angryrat
That shot seems to use custom camera settings. I don't believe you can get that fish eye lens with the default data file cameras.
okcochise
Here is another photo that supposedly came from this game. It works fairly well for my need except that I would prefer it to be day time. That was one reason I got the game. I thought I could get the Metropolitan Stadium with daylight view. emath2432
Yup, that was the one I was trying to get a shot from earlier, it was just about twice that high. If memory serves me, the guy who created that only made it for night games (which seems a little silly, but I am thinking that was how it was). okcochise
Thank you for the info. At least I know the day time park isnt available. dennisjames71
Hey Jeff, Don't know if you caught this Metropolitain Stadium pack I re-did for the 1970s TC Mods. Jim825 re-released the mods with all of these stadiums; but if you just wanted the individual stadiums to test out, you can go here for the Twins stadiums: http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=5906 I've been following this thread and have tried many of the Camera files that the other modders have made over the years and I came up blank last night with finding one with that perspective/height. I really like that one too but I can't seem to find it either. Hope this helps. Dennis Thank you for the info. At least I know the day time park isnt available. okcochise
Once again, I appreciate your taking the time to assist me, Dennis. I had downloaded the Met stadium pack the first night I found this site. But like everything else, I cant seem to figure out how to extract a nice image from behind home plate. There must be a way to do it because I have seen others extract stadiums but its always been for stadiums I am not looking for. Although I was looking for the Coliseum so I was happy to find that one. I also grabbed conversion mods for 1956, 1961, 1964, 1967 and 1969 which should include every stadium I am looking for. Now if there was just a way to get them Thanks again. Jeff Hey Jeff, Don't know if you caught this Metropolitain Stadium pack I re-did for the 1970s TC Mods.
