Roster Export Problem

i'm trying to export my edited roster to the game from mvp edit. it keeps telling me a certain AAA team doesn't have 20-25 players, when indeed it does. i just went through every roster from all of the mlb teams through to their single A teams to make sure every roster had 25 players and all of the rotations and lineups were cleared and filled in, but it still gives me the error message

When exactly did you get the error message? Was it when you tried to export the files? Did you try the Tools->Check Errors command to see what it reports? That might give you a better idea of what the problem is.

jim, i got it to finally work. i had to clear rotations and lineups 5 or 6 times and delete and add players to get it to work. i had to show 24 players in the roster on a couple of teams that said ' roster doesn't have 20-25 players. thanks for your help. it still shows "louisville" lineups not right for nl vs rhp & nl vs lhp (with a yellow exclamation mark) even though i cleared and erased the lineups about 6-7 times. it exported, so i guess that's all that matters. thanks for your suggestions

the one way to help prevent this from happening is to be more careful when editing your rosters. if you have a pitcher placed in the SP1 spot in mvpedit, you don't want to delete or move him from that team until you switch him to one of the other spots in the rotation. if you do anything that takes the guy in the SP1 spot out of the rotation and leaves an empty spot in the rotation, these errors will show up when you check for errors.

to get rid of the error, you need to edit your dat files with a text editor. open your team.dat file in notepad and look for the team that gives you the error. copy the first set of numbers on the line for that team, which is their id number. then open the roster.dat file in notepad and search for that team id number. you will find all the entries for that team in a row (up to 25 depending how many players are on the roster).

you can use the key at the top of that dat file to tell you what to look for each entry means, but look for the SP1 entry for that team (this is for the number starter). look for what is entered in the #5 and #9 spot for that SP1. those entries are for the NL batting orders vs left and right handed pitchers. you just need to make sure they both have a 9 there. the error is usually because a -1 is there. change it and save the dat file. then reimport the database into mvpedit and run your error check again.

if you don't fix these errors, it will export just fine. however, when you pull up the lineups and rosters roster editor in game, you will errors there.

thanks, i've printed your hints for my future reference. a couple of questions for you.... how can i get my rosters to show up in the game as i've named it? when loading rosters in the game, all i can see is 2005. also, after exporting my edited rosters in mvp edit to c:/program files/ea sports/mvp2005/data, on the options screen that asks if i want to use the default rosters, do i select yes or select no?

You want to export your rosters to c:/program files/ea sports/mvp2005/data/database

If you do that, they will automatically appear when you start the game.
