Can I Run In Windows 7

Hi all,

Wanted to load this up with Total Classics for my son, who's getting really into baseball history. But even without the mod, the main game crashes on me. Have a new PC, Windows 7 installed. It ran on my old Vista computer, so I'm just wondering if it won't run on 7 or if I'm missing something.

Thanks for any help.

Try running it under administrator.

Try running it under administrator.

Tried that. Shows opening screen, goes black, then crashes with message MVP2005.exe stopped working correctly. That's with the base install, no patches or mods added. But it crashed earlier with all the patches added with total classics too.

Is this the same computer? Windows 7 is not really an issue as I've ran the game just fine.

OK, then good to know it's not Windows. Unfortunately, I assume that means the computer just can't handle it.

This is a different computer. My old one was a Dell desktop. Nothing made for gaming, just a standard all purpose PC. That started to crap out last year so we got the kids a new computer for Christmas, again just a basic computer (they're 7, 6 and 4) for them to mess around on.

I don't know what else it would be, as there is virtually nothing on this computer yet so it's not like it's corrupted at all and I've had no other problems.

Thanks for the responses.

You need to check the requirments for the game vrs. what your computor can run, most likely the Graphics card. could be a cheap upgrade is needed. Could be something else simple too. I wouldnt give up on it yet, this game is a great way to get kids interested in the history of the game. My daughter is also really taking to the history of baseball and it is turning out to be a great way to bond.

even a basic NEW computor should be graphically able to handle this game so it may be some other conflict shutting it down, you might try uninstall reinstall to make sure you have a good install, did you patch your install, Im thinking patch 3 wouldnt hurt to have. but i dont think the patches cover anyting to do with installation and start up.

make sure you search the forums here for any tips tht others have had with windows7. its probably not Win7 as Homer said, but you never know what kind of trik you will run across.

good luck, and if you get it going, always follow up here on your thread, as it may help someone else in the future.

dont forget to try it in XP mode if you can

I have 2 GB of memory. As for graphics:

Graphics

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Display adapter type NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430

Total available graphics memory 895 MB

Dedicated graphics memory 256 MB

Dedicated system memory 0 MB

Shared system memory 639 MB

Display adapter driver version 8.17.11.9666

Primary monitor resolution 1366x768

DirectX version DirectX 9.0 or better

I only have the jewel case, not the box, so I don't know the game specs. I just can't believe this is less than my old PC had, but maybe I'm wrong.

seems like your just barely making some of this so it could well be a graphics card issue, I am no means an expert at this stuff. there are better folks on the site to answer that than me, i will defer to them and hope they can help you.

Thanks for the response. I guess I need to go check out a new graphics card. I know he'll play it, so I'm OK with that as long as it works.

I just Googled your display adapter and it looks like it is an onboard video chip and not an actual graphics card. To run the game you really need a dedicated graphics card. If all you want to play is MVP2005, you should be able to get a graphics card to meet the game specs pretty cheaply.

I have found this thread to be very helpful for me. I hope that you were able to get MVP 2005 to work on your computer. I loved this game for the ps2 and have been playing MLB the Show on psp for the last couple of years, but the games just don't compare.

I am purchasing a new laptop and would like to to be able to play MVP 2005 and enjoy all of the great work people have done with the modding and maybe even try some myself.

I was wondering if there are any people who play MVP 2005 on a laptop and if the laptop I am getting will be able to handle the game? This will be the only game on the laptop. Here are the specs:

ASUS Eee PC 1215N PU17

Graphics Controller Manufacturer nVIDIA

Graphics Controller Model ION

Bluetooth Yes

Wi-Fi Yes

Optical Media Support Not Applicable

Graphics Memory Capacity 512 MB

Graphics Memory Accessibility Dedicated

operating system Windows 7 Home Premium

memory 2 GB

memory type DDR3 SDRAM

I am sorry if I am posting this in the wrong place and I don't mean to hi-jack someone's thread. I just didn't know if I should start a new one.

Thank you so much and I love the site.
