MLB License

I understand that this will be the last year that EA will have the MLB license, so the chances of MVP Baseball 2006 are slim.

But wouldn't it be possible for them to tweak all the elements of MLB? For e.g, can't they just change the names of the players from Nomar Garciaparra to Nomah Garciapear? For Graphics (stadiums), maybe they can make it easier to import stadium files, making it possible to simply copy and paste files from 2005 into 2006. And for those who doesn't know how to do that, they can probably use the "create-a-stadium" feature in a wider extant. Faces, uniforms, and other graphics files can be done the same way too, and to include those who doesn't know how to tweak with data files, they can import NBA Live's "create-a-player" system in to MVP so that faces could be THAT much easier to make in the game.

Could this work? I really don't wanna see a game this good end on this track.

lol...this sounds like a good idea...but yes it is still too similar...whats sammy sosa, samuel sousa mike piazza, michael pizza jason giambi- jack steroids, haha we should make this into a thread where we invent new player names and stadiums.

Something that just came to me though. I really don't see them being successful releasing an easily modded game. First of all, I would suspect that the percentage of their fan base who mod is actually quite small when you factor in the challenges fo doing so on the Box or PS2. Also PC gaming has been in the decline outside of the niche market we are part of. I don't see them putting all of those resources into a PC exclusive game. (Just look at NCAA Football for their view of the PC segment.) I could see them going the college route and perhaps including a generic MVP 2005 with the game. Then releasing a patch which would allow the college players to be imported ala Madden.

Did they lose just the MLB license? If thats the case, they could go out and cut a deal with the MLBPA, and have all the players. The old Triple Play games for Sega had just the players union license, and no MLB license. So they can have the correct citiies, just not their team name.

The T2 deal includes the MLBPA, I believe.

Oakland names...

Jason Kendall - Jayson Ken Doll

Bobby Crosby - Bing Crozby

Eric Chavez - Erik Caesar E. Chavez

Mark Kotsay - Marcs Krotchsays

Joe Blanton - Joe Oblivious

Rich Harden - D!ck Softy (my personal favorite)
