Real Minor Leaguers

So what is the basic assumption out here? Are the minor leagues gonna have the actual players who played last year OR just a scattering of top prospects and a bunch of made up names. I know that there are great roster modders who will give us complete rosters as soon as possible, but it would be great to have the majority of those who played in AAA, AA, and high A last season already in the game.

But somehow I have a feeling that would be asking too much.

Well, in THIS interview with Ben Brinkman, he says this is not the case.

Q: Will there be any representation of the minor leagues in MVP Baseball 2005? If so, will players be able to play as minor league teams and/or players?

A: MVP Baseball 2004 was the first game to introduce actual authentic and playable Minor League teams. This year we’ve added Single-A teams to go with the Double-A and Triple-A teams to bring our total minor league roster to 90 teams. Despite our best efforts we don’t have actual players.

Yup, hate to pee on anyones parade, but there are contractural barriers that would prohibit any minor leaguer that has yet to play in a Major League game to be in a MLBPA game, so what could be is that they will have the 40 man rosters all actual, therefore making some minors "real", and the rest would have to be fake

That's a shame.

I thought that since this was probably going to be their last MLB Baseball effort for a while, they could have at least purchased the minor league contract.

that group of minor league pics they released the other day makes me think they are giving us the NCAA treament. From the looks of it, they are just giving the prospects fake names but making them play and look somewhat like their real life counterparts. this would be awesome and would be totally legal. i think the relationship with Baseball America is aiding this

link to thread at operationsports that names all the minor leaguers on the EA website. Like i said, we should expect the NCAA treatment. The guys who actually made the majors last year (swisher, burke, ryan Howard) are in the slideshow in ML unis and stadiums, while the other pictures bear striking resemblences to their real life counterparks.
