You are not really telling us when the crashing occurs. I am going to guess that it could be a cyberface issue. That is a very common problem.

If you feel like you have to delete everything and try from scratch, go ahead. But do you have any other mods installed besides 08? If so, you don't want to get rid of those too.

So, begin again. Install 08 with TiT and follow the directions. Once the 08 mod is installed don't install any other mods on top of it. Go immediately in the mod and see if you can play a game without it crashing on you.

My guess is that you have installed some of Homer's updated cyberfaces with a roster that is not 100% compatible with it. Hiheat32's roster that he made works with it and soon the newer rosters will too.

I think I'm gonna try a clean install, too. My main issue, however, with installing '08 on top of an '05 Clean Install is that the TiT '08 install asks for Disc 1, which I am more than happy to provide...but when I put Disc 1 in and hit OK, it thinks for about a minute, but then comes back and tells me it can't find Disc 1. I've tried it on a Sony Vaio, a Dell Tower and a Mac running Parallels, all with the same result.

I figure there has to be an easier way of installing a new roster with faces and portraits that are current up to now but I have no idea what it might be. :-/

not sure what you guys are doing to make it so difficult, but kraw made the installer for this so that it couldn't be messed up. you don't install a fresh 05 first. you can if you want, but it's pointless to install 05 first because the 08 mod installs a fresh copy for you before installing on top of it.

you need to create an empty folder that you want the 08 mod installed, and install Tit into it. from there, you run tit to install the 08 mod. when it prompts you to insert the discs, you insert them, wait, and hit okay. it's supposed to install everything automatically. it works perfectly fine. i just did it last week without a problem. if it's not doing it correctly, you either have pirated discs, you didn't install Tit right, or you are not giving Tit full access.

My discs are just fine. I've used them for clean installs as well as installing the '07 Mod. Those work perfectly. For some reason, the '08 install just hates my discs. :-/ What can I say? I wait for the prompt, insert the disc, wait about a minute (just to be safe) and it tells me that my disc cannot be found. I can't explain why. It just happens.

That said, is there an easy way to just Clean Install '05, skip '08, then install a compatible roster/facepack? That would seem a fairly easy solution. I guess I'm just weighing my options.

No hostility intended here. :)

You see, this is the problem with you guys. You don't listen. Installing the 07 mod was completely different from installing the 08 mod. I know, I installed them both. The 08 mod required complete installation by the TiT program. Your mistake was (and you admitted it) was you tried to install the 08 mod on top of a clean install of 05. That will work if you try to install a total conversion mod like the 1969 mod or 1974 mod for example. But NOT with the 08 mod. Do what Homer says to do to install the 08 mod and don't question him. He knows more about this than I can ever hope to. Again, do not install the 08 mod over a clean copy of 05. Already you are giving yourself a problem you don't need.

Yankee, YES, I DID make the mistake of trying to install '05 first. I have, since then, uninstalled and erased MVP completely from my drive and have tried doing a straight install of '08.

The problem (as I've stated) is that, after doing all the '08 work, TiT asks for Disc 1 (COMPLETELY LEGIT) and when I put it in, wait, and press "OK", I get "ERROR: MVP DISC 1 CAN'T BE FOUND". I've cleaned the disc and used three different CD/DVD drives. It just cannot see the disc. That's the issue. It's probably the disc at this point. If that's the case, I don't know HOW in the world I'm going to get another copy of this game because it's nowhere to be found.

That's why I am (very nicely) wondering if there's a way to simply install '05, then install a current roster/facepack combo so I can get a current game going.

I can understand the frustration with having to deal with every single person's problems with this game but there are some (like me) who know what they're doing and work themselves through the mistakes they're making during the installs.

I guess I understand the really quick tempers of those smarter than ourselves because you get the same questions over and over...but these forums are here and people are gonna have issues with installs and the game, in general, every now and then.

I like this site very much. I have, in fact, contributed to AT&T Park a couple of times by taking pics of ads for the stadium. I want to do something like that again but the thing that keeps me from it is the community that undresses others in a given forum because we missed a step. I'm sorry that it works for you but not for me. All I want to do is get a handle on the situation and ask for any other suggestions.

That's all. I mean no ill intent here and I AM listening. Is there a way to work together on this issue?

Thanks, guys.

Have you tried the other two things I mentioned? if you don't think it's the discs, double and triple check that you've installed Tit correctly and that you have given it full access. that means no firewall or antivirus. if you're using vista or windows 7, try right clicking an running as an admin. if those don't help, it could very well be your discs, which makes no sense that it is working for the 07 mod, other than the discs aren't legit since the 08 mod checks to ensure they are legit. try these things first. if they don't work, go on to the tips below.

1. try making images of your discs. y4l might be able to help you with this, but there's a thread somewhere here that tells you how to make backups of your discs. if you do that, mount them with daemon tools and see if it installs then.

2. you can definitely install the cyberface pack and portrait pack i released without 08. if you can find a roster that's compatible, it should be fine. however, without the 08 mod, most of the player audios will not be updated. you will also need to manually update all of the uniforms, loading screens, the stadiums, etc

good luck with it. please let us know how that goes.

Homer gave you some good advice tabascoman77 and this could be an issue with the TiT program. Try to temporarily disable your antivirus while you are trying to install the 08 mod. Nothing bad will happen. And as soon as it gets installed, turn it back on.

Now, in case you need to make images of your game disks go to this thread right here so you can see the step-by-step directions on how to do this.

I am sure you will be playing this mod very soon. Good luck.

Hey, Homer/Yankee...

Thanks for all the help.

It works now. Here's the backstory:

Long ago (about four years ago), I noticed my MVP Baseball 2005 discs were getting some light scratches. So rather than continuing to ding up my discs, I made back-up copies. To test if they worked, I tried to install the '07 mod and was successful in doing so. I also clean installed the original game and it worked.

I used these discs forever thinking I could just use these for any future installs.

So, imagine my surprise when my back-ups no longer worked when I tried to install '08.

Fast forward to now with all my frustration. I went ahead and took Homer's advice. First, I made image copies of the BACK-UPS. This didn't work. I tried different computers thinking it was the drive in my original Windows PC. That didn't work.

The next thing I did was just swallow my pride and pull out the original discs and made images according to the instructions.

This worked PERFECTLY. So, from now on, I think I'm gonna go the image route when playing the game or I try to install anything.

One more question, however, if I may: now that the '08 upgrade is in place, can I just go ahead and download the hiheat 2k10 to MVP roster and insert the compatible Facepack that goes with it? Or do you guys know of an '11 Facepack/Roster combo I could use?

I've looked through all the downloads and I have NO idea which pack would go with which rosters.

I appreciate all your help and I thank you guys.

glad it worked. i only use my images now too. my discs look as new as the day i got them because of this, so they just sit on the shelf until i need them.

as for a roster with the 2011 pack, your guess is as good as mine. i uploaded the faces and kept the id list up to date for the roster modders. if they kept their roster up to date with the list, there shouldn't be an issue. unfortunately we haven't have a central roster to work from since kg's. as far as i know, there's several in the works and i really haven't tested them, so it's up to you to let us know too. give it a shot, but be sure to back up the files first.

Thanks for all the help, Homer. I will definitely let you know.

I've noticed that you can't just install a roster and have a different Facepack. I have an up-to-date list (downloaded from your work) but I have ZERO idea how to utilize Facepacks with rosters. I gotta figure it out. :)

you just have to edit the rosters with mvpedit so that the cyberface numbers and cyberface styles match the id list. then import the roster back into the game.
