furball
I'm in the 23'd year of a dynasty. I've played several dynasties before and never noticed this: For the past 8 seasons or more, when I'm playing any of my minor league teams personally (not Manager or fast mode) the opposition team will walk my lead-off batter, if I'm ahead by any runs, or even behind by 1 or more runs in the 7th inning, or later. If I then steal 2nd, they'll walk the NEXT batter, no matter what. I've even been in the 9th inning, down by 1 run, and they will walk my leadoff hitter, no matter who is up next. Again, this is only when I'm playing head-to-head, not in Manager mode. I had not noticed this earlier. Is there a game setting I've mistakenly set? Thanks in advance. Yankee4Life
No, not that I know. That's just the AI of the game doing that. I've noticed this too, getting intentional walks when it really doesn't make sense in getting one.
oldtimey
Each team has an intenional walk setting in its managerial profile that you can access using MVPEdit. The settings are 0.1 and 2. When that setting is on 2 for the team that is pitching, they will walk you in absurd situations, including a hot hitter leading of an inning. Reset the setting to 0 and the use of the intentional walk will be much more realistic. The difference between 0 and 1 settings is not as extreme as when it is set on 2. I hope this helps. furball
oldtimey, thanks! I downloaded MVPedit and found exactly what you're referring to. I noticed most major league teams have "Intentional Walk" set to 2. I also noticed that all the minor league teams I checked have 0 in all the management fields, so I assume the minor league teams just take the values used by the major league team. Is that correct, so far as you know? Also, I see that the team rosters and stuff come from the original .DAT files, so obviously the .SAV files of my current dynasty aren't represented. Do you know if the "management fields" (like intentional walks) are also saved into the .SAV files? That is, if I want to change the intentional walk field, must I start a new dynasty to have that change take effect? (I'm a little leery of writing back the .MBE file without knowing exactly what the effects will be on my current dynasty.) Thanks again for the help. Unfortunately, you'll have to start your dynasty again if you want the changes to take effect. Editing a MBE affects the default roster in your game.
