Doby12
I posted a question for Steve over at OperationSports (he has a beta copy) and he answered... Diablo25: My question has to do with walks and pitch counts. The screens you posted the other day showed some new sliders that MAY affect pitcher control, etc. (CPU Pitch Ball Rate, Pitch Meter Difficulty, etc.) Have you seen many walks yet? Last year they were darn near nonexistent and pitch counts were way too low. Thanks. Operation Sports: Oh yeah!! Sliders work this year. I've slapped the ball slider all the way up, just to test the sliders and while it's not an automatic walk, it's very noticable the pitcher has less control. I don't think we'll have much trouble finding the right sliders to get the realism there, since the sliders DO WORK!! Give the slider guys a few days and we'll be loving life. LetsGoOakland
Sounds good. I like to hear that. I will have to test out the sliders myself to get the right combination.
RonBurgundy
I'll just wait for Pared's sliders to be posted...
The H
I'm really thinking about cancelling my order with Outpost and simply stop by an EB store and pick the game tomorrow in the morning... I won't be able to wait for 3-4 extra days .
LetsGoOakland
I never order online. It's pointless, atleast out here in Tucson. A baseball video game is not going to sell out on the day of release.
Doby12
On a similar question: Operation Sports: I just played w/ the sliders for human and while I did see some differences in foul balls and pitching control, it wasn't that much of a difference. It's hard to say how well the slider works for the user, but I have seen it work considerably well w/ the AI.
Smitty
Speaking of the Beta preview... I'm kinda disappointed that you won't be able to play spring training games in the first season. I was really hoping they'd add that this year. I really dont know why they didn't :x
LetsGoOakland
I was really looking forward to it. It made me feel stronger about my team going into season one in Madden because I could improve upon 10 different players before the season even started. I wish EA would have done their mini-games as such, with different baseball authentic drills such as fielding ground balls and making the throw across the diamond, catching the fly ball and hitting the relay man, groundball to first base and second baseman covers. That's what I was hoping for. I guess I will just have to hope another title improves its engine to match that of EA's MVP and pray that they implement such an offseason training schedule. mrg1
i kinda wish the spring training was a little more serious... the mini games look like they could be fun, but i probably wont use them in my dynasty. its just not real baseball
Jabroni
wow, thats unbelieveable As a Sox fan, yes it is. Billy Kroch sucks. I think he's the perfect example of a pitcher who did roids and finally got off them. His 100 MPH fastball was non-existent on the White Sox. Where did it go? :? Valiknicoff
I'm kinda disappointed that you won't be able to play spring training games in the first season. The first season is the season you will be playing off your updated rosters that will already accurately represent players for that season. Boosting guys in mini games isn't going to provide an accurate representation of the team you are playing for the first year. This same thing screws the progression in Madden 2005 all to hell

This same thing screws the progression in Madden 2005 all to hell I suppose you're right, but I actually have not much interest in playing the mini games. I wanted to play out some spring training games for two reasons 1) Considering where we're at in the real baseball season, it fits the mood. MLB will be playing their exhibition games soon, we should too! 2) I wanted to play some meaningless games with my dynasty so I could get familar with the new hitter's eye and pitching features. Just to get a feel of the game. I would have enjoyed working out the kinks playing some grapefruit league ball.
