Hellickson is 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA against the Yankees. Ivan Nova (5-3, 5.45 ERA) Nova is making his first start since June 12th. The Yanks got the lead in the bottom of the 2nd, with a 2-run home-run by Jorge Posada. The Rays got on the board thanks to a RBI single by Matt Joyce. No runs were scored until the bottom of the 6th, when Mark Teixeira blasted a solo shot. In the 8th inning, Longoria homered to make it 3-2, but in the bottom of the frame another RBI by Teixeira, this time a single, made the score 4-2. Rivera got the save as the Yanks won 4-2. He's 9-2 with a 3.33 ERA against the Rays. Jeff Niemann (1-8, 5.61 ERA) Niemann went 6.2 innings, gave up 4 hits, 2 runs and got the no-decision against the Cardinals. A-Rod started off in the 1st with a 2-run home run and Swisher followed in the 2nd inning with a solo blast. Upton hit a RBI single in the 3rd to put the Rays on the board but in the 3rd, a 3 run shot made the scored 6-1 for the Yanks. Niemann lasted only 2.2 innings, gave up 6 hits, 6 runs and got the loss. The Yanks scored 6 more runs in the 5th thanks to a RBI double by Teixeira, a 2 RBI single by Cano and 3-run HR by Posada. In the 6th A-Rod hit another 2-run HR, and Posada followed in the 7th with his second home run of the game, a 2-run shot. Garcia went 8 innings, gave up 7 hits, 1 run and struck out 12. Price is 4-2 with a 4.05 ERA against the Yankees. CC Sabathia (11-2, 3.43 ERA) CC went 6 innings, gave up 12 hits, 6 runs but still managed to get the win against the Indians in his last start. The Rays bullpen didn't allow a single hit in 2.1 innings of relief. Sabathia got the loss, even though he tossed a complete game, giving up 8 hits, 2 runs and striking out 10. Andy Pettitte (9-4, 2.97 ERA) Pettitte went 6 innings, gave up 10 hits and 5 runs as he got the loss against the Indians. He has faced the Rays once this season.
