Dickey (3-3, 4.14 ERA) Dickey went 7 strong innings, gave up 2 hits, 2 runs (unearned) and still got the loss against the Astros in his last start. Against the Yankees he's 3-3 with a 2.30 ERA CC Sabathia (6-1, 3.54 ERA) CC was dominant against the Red Sox as he tossed 8.1 shoutout innings, giving up 5 hits and striking out 6. Against the Mets he's 3-1 with a 2.25 ERA. Players to watch Jorge Posada He has a 9-game hitting streak coming into this game. Ike Davis He's 3-for-6 against Sabathia in his career. Dickey was great as well: he tossed 7 shutout innings, allowed 5 hits and struck out 5. In the 8th the Yankees scored the only run of the game: Martin got a 1-out single, and he was advanced to 3rd by another base hit by Jeter. With men at corners, Granderson hit a ground ball that Wright fielded, but his throw was off-line and Granderson was called safe and Martin scored. CC gave up 2 hits with 2 outs in the 9th inning, and Girardi with the game on the line, decided to go to Mariano Rivera: Rivera retired Paulino and the Yanks won 1-0. "with a 1-0 score, i didn't to risk anything, so i decided to go to Mariano." said Girardi "CC was pitching well until then, but with a 1-0 lead, you don't really want to give up the tying run." Apparently not. In today's game he went 3-for-4, with 2 HRs and 2 RBIs. He hit a solo shot in the first, giving the Yanks a 1-0 lead. A-rod then drove in 1 with a RBI single. Pettitte shut the Mets down for 6th innings, until in the 7th Duda broke the shutout with a RBI double. Pettitte went 6.2 innings, gave up 6 hits, 1 run and struck out 9. The Mets bullpend imploded in the 7th tough, as Posada hit anothere solo HR and Granderson belted a 3-run HR. In the 8th, the mets scored 2 but RIvera shut the door tossing a scoreless 9th. Posada hits HR no.10 of the season Jorge again! The Yankees got an early lead thanks to A-rod, who blasted a solo shot to left field. But the Mets got the lead with a 2 RBI single by Thole. In the 4th the Yanks tied the game with a RBI single by Cano, but in the next inning a sac fly by Pagan gave the Mets a 3-2 lead. He's 1-1 with a 10.13 ERA against the Yankees. Ivan Nova (3-3, 7.38 ERA) Nova went 4.1 innings and gave up 10 hits and 7 runs in his outing against the O's. Garcia went just 2.2 innings, gave up 10 hits and 5 runs. Cecil was good enough as he went 5.1 innings and gave up 6 hits and 1 run to earn win no.1 of the season. The Yanks scored 1 with a RBI single, but Nix hit his first HR of the season in the 8th. He hasn't allowed a run in his last 2 starts and he has won his last 3 starts. He won his last start against the Jays, going 6.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and 4 runs. In the 4th the Jays scored 2 thanks to back-to-back HRs by Bautista and Encarnacion. But in the bottom of the 4th the Yanks replied with a solo HR by Nick Swisher. Romero went 3.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 4 run. The bullpen wasn't much better though as A-Rod hit a 2-run HR in the 5th. Rivera hit a RBI double in the 8th, and the Blue Jays loaded the bases in the 9th, but Rivera shut the door to earn the save. Swisher goes deep in the 4th inning It's an A-bomb! The Yanks didn't give him much help though, scoring just 3 runs in the game. In the 2nd Swisher put the Yanks on the board with a solo homer. A-Rod made it 2-0 in the 4th inning with a home-run and in the 9th, he hit another one! Fister went 5 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs.
