He never faced the Mariners in his career. Erik Bedard (2-3, 6.37 ERA) Bedard got the no decision against the Twins as he went 4 and gave up 6 hits and 2 runs. Both pitchers carried a shutout into the 6th, and Bedard had no hitter into the 5th. The Yanks scored first thanks to a single by Jeter, who advanced to 2nd thanks to a sac bunt by Granderson: With Jeter in scoring position Teixeira broke the tie with a big 2-run HR (his 1st since May 17th). In the bottom of teh inning though, Smoak tied the game with another 2-run HR. Bedard went 5.1 innings, giving up 4 hits, 2 runs and striking out 7 while Nova went 6.2 innings giving up 7 hits, 2 runs and striking out 8. In the 8th the Yanks broke the tie thanks to back-to-back singles by Jeter and Granderson and Cano, with 2 outs, on the 9th pitch of the at-bat, hit a single right between the shortstop and the 3rd baseman, scoring Jeter. Rivera pitched a scoreless 9th to earn save no.16. Against the A's he's 7-7 with a 5.22 ERA. Trevor Cahill (4-4, 4.17 ERA) Cahill went 4 innings, gave up 12 hits and 5 runs as he earned the no decision against the Angels. The A's started out early thanks to RBI single by Matsui and Suzuki in the 1st. But in the 3rd, A-Rod hit HR no.17 of the season, a grand slam that gave the Yanks a 4-2 lead. Cahill went just 2.2 innings, gave up 3 hits and 4 runs. In the 4th the A's answered with back-to-back-to-back RBI singles by Sweeney, DeJesus and Matsui. Garcia was pulled from the game after going 3.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 5 runs. In the 6th Matsui hit a solo shot, giving the A's a 2-run lead. In the 7th the Yanks came back with a safety squeeze by Gardner and 2 RBI single by Jeter. But in the bottom of the 9th, with 2 outs, Ellis tied the game with a RBI single. WThe A's won it with a RBI single by Matsui in the 12th. A-Rod hits a grand slam in the 4th innings Walk-off! Robertson came in, but struggled as he allowed a 3-run HR to Carter. The Yanks couldn't score a run as they were shut down for the second time in a week. No runs were scored until the 6th, when Braden left the game after 5.1 innings: he gave up 5 hits, 4 runs (2 earned) and struck out 10. The Yanks scored 4 runs thanks to a RBI double by Cano, a RBI single by Martin and a 2 RBI double by Jeter. In the 8th the Yanks scored 5 runs thanks to a sac fly by Martin, a RBI single by A-Rod and a 3-run Home-run by Swisher. Pettitte went 7.2 innings, gave up 7 hits, 1 runs and struck out 5. The Yanks won 11-3. A-Rod wasted no time in the 1st as he hit a solo shot. Morales answered with another HR in the bottom of the inning. The Yanks took the lead in the 3rd with RBI singles by Cano and Teixeira. In the 4th the Yanks offense erupted as Jeter made it 4-1 with a RBI single, followed by a 3 RBI triple by Granderson, a RBI single by A-Rod, a sac fly by Cano and a RBI double by Posada. The Yanks were leading 10-1 after the 4th. But the Halos didn't give up as Kendrick hit a RBi double and Callaspo followed with a 2 RBI single, making the score 10-4. Swisher hit HR no.10 of the season in the 6th.The Halos score 4 more runs in the 7th thanks to RBIs by Morales and Kendrick. The Angels scored early thanks to a RBI single by Morales in the 1st and a RBI double by Kendrick in the 3rd. but the Yanks come back thanks to Cano: he hit a RBI single in the 4th and tied it with a RBI triple in the 6th. Weaver went 6 innings, gave up 4 hits, 2 runs, no walks and struck out 13 and Garcia went 7 innings, gave up 12 hits, 2 runs and struck out 10. With the game tied in the bottom of the 9th, it was Kendrys Morales that sent the Halos fans home happy: he hit a walk-off solo shot that ended the game and avoided the sweep.
