stecropper
I am attempting to use tywiggins MVPEditor tool with the Team Changer function combined with his Play Every Game option to play each and every game during the course of the Playoffs with MLB selected teams and not having much success. Question: Is anyone having success with similar efforts? What I do is: 1) Sim the entire season (and in the case of shorten seasons, such as 154 game seasons, I use tywiggins Short Season Projector) and then advance to the Playoffs. 2) Use tywiggins Playoff Creator tool to select only MLB Teams to be represented in the Playoffs (normally either all American League Teams or all National League Teams for the 8 Team Playoff selections). 3) Then use tywiggins MVPEditor V30 tool to use the Team Changer for each game as well as add the duplicate game for that team which should allow me to be able to select the next Team for the following game once this game has been played. 4) After playing a game I then delete the duplicate game for the Team that just played and then select the next Team to control via the Team Changer function. 5) This process seems to work a good deal of the time but causes problems "typically" after playing the final game of the day. 6) The MVPEditor tool crashes after moving to the next day's schedule when I attempt to add the duplicate game for the newly selected team being controlled. Thus I am unable to create that duplicate game. 7) At times the Playoff Tree appears corrupted after this occurrence of the MVPEditor crashing. Playing a game without having created the duplicate game occassionally clears up the problem and I then can use the MVPEditor tool once again to select the next game's team to control and set a duplicate game for it. But sometimes this causes a game or two on the schedule to be simmed before it starts working again thus not allowing me to play each and every game of the Playoffs. 9) The Playoff Tree corrects itself once MVPEditor begins to work again without crashing. I have read where there are problems when you try to mix MLB, AAA, AA & A type teams in the Playoffs but I am only selecting MLB Teams (although sometimes only selecting either all 8 AL or NL teams). If anyone is having success playing each and every game during the course of the Playoffs I would appreciate hearing about it and also what process/steps they use to do so. I would also like to hear if others have tried this and experienced problems then just gave up on it. Thanks, Don
oldtimey
I have had simiar experiences trying to play every game in the playoffs. My crashes occurred after moving to the next round. Then, teamchanger would be unusable. One season, I thought it was gonna go all the way to the World Series. After the League Championship Series concluded, it crashed and corrupted the entire playoff, forcing me to crown co-Champions (Detroit and the New York Mets) because I could not play the World Series. Since then, I gave up. I pick and choose which games to watch during the playoffs and watch every game of the World Series. Its better than having no World Series. Gordo
I asked about this before. I think the remedy is to get into the .sav file and change (stagger) the start times so that you could do this if you want to as well as make sure the "correct" pitching matchups occur. stecropper
Thanks oldtimey --- it appears my experiences are very similar to yours. Thus I would have to conclude that the Team Changer is a great tool and works flawlessly during the course of the regular season but is not a tool that can be used during the course of the Playoffs. Which is unfortnuate because that would make the Playoffs a lot more exciting. daflyboys you probably have a good solution there but I am not familiar with what tool can be used to open and edit a .sav file. I think the only reasonable alternative is to use the Playoff Creator to create individual Playoff Dynasties for each individual Playoff match up and then switch between those Dynasties. The worst thing about that approach is that the stats are then recorded for only a single series versus being updated throughout the Playoffs. But actually a small price to pay for a great game with fabulous tools such as MVPEdit, MVP Editor for Dynasties, Team Changer, Short Season Projector, Box Score Extractor, MVP SavReader etc etc ........... Thanks Again to all the GREAT Contributors to this Fabulous Game! Life is GOOD! Don
Gordo
I think tywiggins knew how to get into .sav files. The more I read about it, the more it looks like messing with a hex editor. Yippie.
