mattzane227
I just bought a sapphire radeon 6770 so I could play MVP with all the mods. I've got 8gb DDR3 ram and a athlon x4 830. Still the cutscenes are stuttery and when I'm throwing in the infield or throwing the ball in from the outfield it is really choppy. I have MVP 08 installed and I tried a fresh install of MVP 2005 with the 2nd patch and the 5th patch and it makes no difference. Am I missing something? Shouldn't this video card have no problem playing this game smoothly? I made sure vsync is on and have tried different settings and it doesn't matter. I turned everything in the MVP Video options to low and even turned crowds off and it STILL doesn't help.
dennisjames71
Your post caught my attention because over the last 2 weeks I had been building a couple of new systems for recording music, playing games, and using one as a media center. And the specs for your system are nearly similar to one of the computers I had built, same video card most of all. There could be a number of reasons you’re experiencing the choppy rendering. I had some of these same issues when I ran my installs of MVP on the default of 1024x768 resolution. It was really choppy and it was like the pc/video card was too fast for this game. The first thing I did was to download TyWiggin’s “Res Changer” program and (if you have a 23” monitor or bigger) I am running the game at 1920x1200 resolution now and my game has never looked cleaner and it runs extremely smooth. At times when the game shows instant replays of key events (like a player running); it can do a little stuttering but everything else is very smooth. Keep in mind, this game is going on 7 years old; so it kind of the nature of the beast. Other things to consider with your video card lies in the Catalyst Control Center; even though I have more than enough horsepower on both of my systems; I don’t completely max out all the 3D settings. I bring anti-aliasing to about the 12x-16x range (not the max of 24x) and I keep anisotropic filtering right under the max setting. You may want to experiment with these settings and it can be a pain to test the different combinations but you can save your profile in Catalyst when you find the one you like. Here’s another thing to consider; everyone is always in a rush to install the latest/greatest video card drivers on their machines even though some of them are beta or RC (release candidate) drivers. For my Radeon 6770, I did that and immediately noticed a WORSE performance. At the beginning of the FIFA 11 game I noticed stuttering when my player was running towards the goal and the first level (in Cuba) of Call of Duty: Black Ops was stuttering as well. I removed those drivers and re-installed the ones from the CD that came with my video card and now Black Ops is smooth as silk. Give these ideas some thought and best of luck to you.
