timay
ATHLON 2400 XP 512 MB RAM 1024 BY 768 RES 60 HZ I BELIEVE GEFORCE 5200 128 MB SOUND BLASTER AUDIGY 2, OR WHATVER THE NEWEST ONE IS not really much choppiness to speak of, much better than last year...do see a little choppiness in throws, sometimes in replays, but yes much better than last year for me. donjn
Well, not to my suprise it is very choppy on my system. Athlon XP 2800 1GB RAM Geforce 6800 I can run any game I want on max res. MVP runs worse than last year. It is unplayable. I am pissed off!
schitonk
XP 2400 TBRED on GA 7VRXP rev 2 1280 MB kingston mixed generic ram ATI 9600XT windows XP sp1 Choppy like 04 but with AA and whatnot pumped all the way up at 1024x768@60hz i get random smoothnes, totally random. never on infield throws. there's, of course, some choppiness that can be attributed from framerate drop but other than that it's the same as 04. spitoon
It definitely runs smoother on 'lesser' machines, however I had a significant stuttering problem with '04 on my 1.4 Celeron machine...A buddy of mine has a 2.5Ghz Celeron and ATI 9700Pro and '04 was very choppy on it... Anyways, I've posted this before and I'd like to see if it works for anyone else, because it worked wonders on my machine...I think it is an Nvidia specific fix, but I'm not sure...Turn UP your AA, I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but I swear it reduced the choppiness by 90% on my machine....I only had to go to 2XQ....I'm not sure if this is an Nvidia specific fix, or if it was just something that worked on mine, but I can promise you it worked wonders for me... As far as why it works, who knows? Maybe it slows things down enough to where the game and video sync better, while on slow machines you don't need to slow them down any more... By the way, this was all done at 85Hz refresh rate, I can't stand 60Hz.
samoggi
All this chatter about choppiness is just making me feel sick. Dont get me wrong, I agree with all of you. It doesen't matter what system you have or what res. you play at, it is choppy(stuttering, whatever). Why would they do this? It drove me nuts in 04.......I thought it was my computer. It was that frickin' game. All the other EA titles ran so good too. From what I saw on those preview trailers, I knew it would have the same issues of stuttering, you can see it. Also, the game is pretty well the same as last year. Same boring layout and pretty well the same comentary. They made a few tweaks but that's it. Like I said in an earlier thread. AN OVER NIGHT JOB! You blew it this time EA!!!! I was looking forward to this one so much too. All the $$$$$ I spend on their games and they cheap out on Frame rates! They pissed me off this time!!!! brewha202002
brew, could you tell me where to find the processor speed? I just put down the number next to the RAM, thinking it was the same.... Oly. Assuming that you have Windows XP, go to START-CONTROL PANEL-SYSTEM. This will give you the information to your processor. With AMD chips, the speed is equal to the FSB X CPU Multiplier = ghz. More then likely, your FSB on your CPU is at 166 (333 FSB) x 11= 1.826 ghz. In BIOS, up the FSB to 200 (400 FSB) x 11= 2.2 ghz which is the normal speed that the Athlon XP3200 should be running at. If you dont feel comfortable messing around with this, and that you dont mind your CPU running under what it is capable of, then I advise that you dont mess with you BIOS. It's still somewhat Greek to me, but the bottom line is that my computer isn't "processing" at the rate that it is capable of. Any idea why it would come out of the box this way? I haven't made any BIOS changes (to be honest, I have no idea what a BIOS is). On a side note, and slightly back on topic, the more I played the game last night, the less choppiness I experienced. I still see a little bit on throws across the infield, but nothing like the three-ball-zig-zag that I got with the first game I played. I have no idea why it got better, as I didn't make any changes other than pulling the CD out and screaming at it. The "sparkling" grass feature, however, does still linger, which just reminds me how lucky we are to have talented stadium modders around here. Was your PC store bought, or custom built? If it was store bought, what brand is it? Who is the manufacturer of your MotherBoard? Provide me this info, and I will PM you a step by step process on changes that you need to make to BIOS. After all, you paid for an XP3200 and you should at LEAST be getting XP3200 speeds. I have made some minor adjustments as well to my PC and MVP05 is running smoother. For one, I dropped the core and memory speeds on my video card back to stock speed. I cranked up the AA settings. Doing this has dramitacally affected the choppiness and smoothed it out.

daddy
Do you guys have the latest drivers for you video card? What version of DirectX are you guys running? Also here is a shot. olyrunner
Well, here is an interesting possibility that was brought up over at TPG. SerialMike suggested the controller might have been an issue. When I thought about it, I did make a change to my game last night. I couldn't get the PS2 controller configured properly, so I swtiched to a Logitech RumblePad 2. It might just be a coinkydink, but it might be worth looking into. Are people with stuttering issues using "supported" controllers?
Gamingboy
Only choppiness that happens to me is when their's a long throw from third to first. Not TOO distracting.

Sorry if that is a really basic question. Also has anyone figured out a way to put the resolution to 1600 x 1200? Thanks.

Lars777
I think we are making to much of the choppy game play......Yes we had the same problem last year and at least with my machine 2004 ended up playing very smooth via the patch and other mods that followed......Well Im sure the same thing will happen this year as well via a patch and or some mods....Otherwise the game is fantastic. My machine is a P4 2.6 800fsb overclocked to 3.0 runnin 934fsb 1Gig pc3200 mem with an older Fx card 5900xt/oc.....and from the start the choppy game play was evident but not as bad as some people are saying...after a lil tweaking with a Pci Latency tool ....and turning on vertical sync and setting it to 60Mhz......I run the game in 1280x1024 2Q AF 2AA Quality settings.....core clock is 460....mem is 780.....and I gotta say at least on my computer the choppy play is almost all but gone......I dont have any choppy ball movement when throwing from the outfield....but I do get a lil when throwing within the infield.....but not all the time.....out of maybe 10 throws from 3rd to 1st maybe like 3 throws will just sail nice and smooth without a blip....All in all when this lil problem does get fixed we will have the best baseball game to loadup on....... :p

brewha202002
MDCHAP, I will try to help you out best that I can. Thank goodness you have an Nividia chip because that is all I really know about. Seclect the following: Start-control panel-display Hit the settings tab. Then hit advanced. This should bring up another set of tabs. Click on the tab that shows your Video Card. When this pulls up you should see a menu to your right side. Select performance and quality. Look under your global driver settings and you will see all the options you can set. However, not all Nividia drivers provide you this tool. If you do not see the options I mentioned, you will need to download the utility. PM me if you need help. Brew

brewha202002
It is not a complete fix, but it will somewhat smooth it out. You have an extremely powerful Video Card. You want to underclock core and memory on your card.
