Ezdriver, I have it set at the following:

Antialiasing- 4X

Anisotropic Filtering- 4X

Brew

Brew: I tried to crank it up that high and experienced FPS that were too low to be playable or enjoyable (in the 20's). I just put it back to 2x on both with all options maxed and playing at 1280 res. I'll just learn to live with the slight stuttering and hope EA gets their act together on a patch for this problem.

I think I'm the poster boy for older computer systems here.......

Dell Dimension 4100

PIII 1 gig

256 megs of pc 133 ram

Ati radeon 9000 card with 4.7 driver set

Windows ME

AA set to app preference, AF set to 8X.....smartgart off

Monitor refresh rate at 85mz

The game runs as smooth as silk for me. The only time I get a hint of a stutter is on a long throw from third to first, but even that's really hardly noticeable. I do think EA must program for older systems like others have said.

That is really odd, why you may ask? I have a Nividia Geforce FX5900XT. I can crank up the AA and AF and not loose FPS. You have a Geforce 6800 GT. Your card is a better card then mine. Are you sure that your graphics card is not underclocked. Check to see what your core/memory speed is on you VC.

Dazed,

What screen resolution are you running the game on?

800x600x32 ????

I have an old system as well AMD 1.7, Radeon 9200 128MB. I've experienced choppyness so I adjusted the AA & AF from app pref to 2X.

Smartguard On, Refresh Rate at 60mhz. It's still not near as smooth as MVP 2004 was.

I'm going to give your settings a try.

Abhall;

I have it set at 1024x768x32. Anything over that and it gets a bit dicey.

I don't care for how smartgart affects my system, so I always leave that set to off. But with AF at x8 it looks good and I've gotten no issues. Good luck.

Core clock rate is at 351 and memory speed is running at 1002.....right on spec! I have no issues with other games (HL2 4x/anti and 8x/anis @1280 with 80-140fps average), so this is strange. Like I said, everything is set to max in MVP, and I still don't see how the game could be such a hog on my system. BTW, I have nothing overclocked on my rig either.

Seems to run as good if not better than 04 I dont notice any probs so far, smooth as silk on my rigs.- P4 2.2ghz 1024 mgs. ddrram 100 gig harddrive, Geforce Fx 5200 ultra, Audigy 2zs soundcard, Xp Pro, Samsung Syncmaster 955 19 inch @1024 x 768 85hz 4x aa 4x af vsync on,Triliner filtering on. 66.93 Forceware Drivers(Latest available on Nvidia website)Direct X 9c. Even though my vidcard isnt all that this setup is almost 3 years old and runs better Imho than any console runs and it looks hella good compared to all those nasty jaggies on ps2. Its day and nite difference to me those jagged edges just kills me on any console,I crank all settings to the max and go from there and I havent turned anything down yet. Now for some stadium Mods! I cant wait.

i have nearly the same sytem (xp 2400, 1280mb ram) and same monitor and run it at the same res and it's still choppy. this isn't making any sense.

I look at all your specs on your rig and you should not be experiencing low FPS. Choppiness yes, but not the loss in FPS. I am a bit confused now, just for the simple fact that your video card is far superior then mine. You should not be having slowdown problems with the AA and AF cranked. What set of drivers are you using?

What kind of video card do you have. Is it a FX5200 Ultra like the above poster?

My understanding is that FPS problems are due to a framerate cap in the programming of the game, not in any issue with hardware (other than that the hardware may be faster than the game was programmed for). I've never heard of a game trying to cap FPS before, especially at an extra-low rate.

I've got a new (as of last summer) gaming rig that's pretty powerful, but is incredibly choppy because of the FPS cap. I've even tried cranking AA to 16 and AF to 8 with VSync on and it's still choppy. I guess I'll have to wait for the patch.

After reading the posts here on this issue, I cranked up both my anti aliasing and antistropic (sp?) on my graphics cards (ATI 9600) and the quality of the grass improved

but the choppiness was still somewhat there......after reading some more posts, I put the antil aliasing back to application preference and set the antistropic at 8x. Choppiness is gone now, and the grass looks much better.....

I did the exact same thing as you Knight Owl but the choppiness was still there, grass looked extremely better but I would love to know when EA plans on releasing a patch of some sort to help with this. The only thing that has helped with the choppiness was when I changed the camera from zoom to broadcast, but even then the change was rather minimal.

Somebody tell me that if u turn your AGP speed down to 4x it will make the game run smoothly. It seem this game was meant for poor people with poor video card so downgrade your video actually help haha.

Those with 200-300 plus video may I suggest buy a cheap PCI card like 9200SE or 5200 Geforce series that way u can play the game more smoothly.

Do you guys have the latest drivers for you video card? What version of DirectX are you guys running?

Also here is a shot. Try turning down the acceleration in your sound card a notch or two.

Wouldn't be surprised if it is something with sound, since I've ready about so many people (in other game forums) that go big on the video cards and skip out on the high quality sound.

For me, '04 ran with no problems, and '05 runs great as well, running at 1024x768x32, though the grass does look a little different then last year.

2.2ghz Celeron

ATI 9600 256 MB

Win2K

768 MB PC2100

AC '97 sound

Also, I chose NOT to install DirectX 9.0c when prompted during install, as I've read it's only good for the latest graphics cards. Anyone who upgraded to 9.0c when installing this game may want to consider reinstalling 9.0b.

Also, I use the Omega drivers for my ATI card and they work good for me. I started using these after having major problems with EA's Battlefield series.

This is insane ... mvp 04 had horrible choppyness. I found that changing to 60 mhz (From 85) helped 100%. It was smooth as silk. max AA/AF or none at all .. smooth as silk. 05 is completely different. It must be a different engine. Because refresh changes do nothing. AF/AA does nothing.

3200 amd 64 bit, 9800 pro 128mb , 1024 ddr ram, saitek p880 ..... tell me what to do. O wait no one can cuz theres no solution, thnx EA. Another wad of cash stolen by EA. Face it guys, they don't care about this game. It's the last in the MVP series for them, just milking it and us for the cash .... they could care less, all they care about is madden imo. Anyway I hope a patch will come and fix this ,but I doubt it. Not to be negative, but I called EA TECH and when asking the fella about future patch releases and if they will contain a fix for this choppyness issue. He literally laughed at me .... what a mofo. Anyway my rant is over.

Has anyone tried OLDER drivers? I seem to remember this going on with Shogun Total War and it turned out on Nvidea cards anyway, can't recall, but going to Nvidea's older drivers actually worked better. Just a thought.

I have tried about 4 different sets of drivers and none of them help. The Omega drivers actually made it worse for me.

P4 2.8Ghz

ATI Radeon 9600 XT

512 MB Ram

MVP 2004 runs a whole lot better than 2005 on my system. I have tried everything that I have seen suggested on 3 web sites. None of it helps. I'll keep trying until a patch is released or I get another game. :?

I too was really nervous about all the choppiness reports. I had the game at my door step yesterday. Finally installed it today. One initial problem is the game would not load. I disabled visual themes in compatability mode then set my video cards antialiasing settings to apllication controlled. Default clock frequencies. One of those changes most likely allowed the game to load. Will play around with video card settings later.

For me I am happy to say the game ran very smooth. No choppiness what so ever. Video card drivers are Omega.

Looking forward to the mods. The hard working moding folks will really make this game excellant.

Here are my system specs. It's no killer rig but is no slouch either:
