What should I do for a controller?

Last year I used a PS2 USB adapter called Kiky that I bought from Outpost.com and was able to get it working after modification of the cfg file. After hearing that the Radio Shack adapter would be automatically recognized I picked up one of those as well. I can't get the vibration on the Radio Shack version to work at all, even in the Windows control panel test pane. The Kiky version vibrates in the Windows test, but still does not work in the game for me. I've tried every registry hack I could find but still no luck.

Also, I thought last year I saw a post where someone was able to navigate the menus with the controller but I have not been able to do that in MVP04 or 05. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Hey timzeig, I'm using the Logitech Rumblepad 2 and can't figure out how to map the pitch cursor control to the left analog stick instead of the d-pad. The d-pad only lets me aim in the middle or outside extremes and nowhere inbetween like I should be able to with the left stick.

I have the same problem with mine. I tried searching these boards and some others for information but never found an answer. I didn't see the option anywhere in the game so I was wondering if it was possible to do it some other way. I'm not all that advanced with computer stuff so any help would be much appreciated!!

---------EDIT---------

OK I figured out a solution. In case anyone else finds this and has the same question I decided to edit this post.

I opened the controller.cfg file and scrolled down to the controller, and I copied and pasted what was there for the DPAD controls onto the L STICK ones. It seems to be working just fine now! hooray!

Is there any disadvantages to playing the game on the keyboard?

Not really, maybe you won't be used to the layout, but just download sjbushido's controller file, and you'll be fine. (You can lead, slide, etc. with the keyboard after installing it)

I've used both the Saitek 880 and the ol' Logitech Dual Action. Both have their pros and cons. Saitek has 6 face buttons which is more useful for other games and definitely feels the best ergonomically. The Logitech feels more like a Dual Shock (if that's what you're looking for) and has an extra button to map. The D-Pad on both controllers are absolute **** unfortunately, although I would give the edge to the 880 in terms of tactical feedback. If you have to pick one, it's really a toss up and personal preference.
