vinnycast27
right i've only followed mlb for a couple of years here in the UK, and with the help of playing MVP04 i'm slowly starting to understand what each pitch does. Obviously there are some easy ones such as a 4 seam fast ball, 2-seam, curve balls, palm balls all mean nothing to me. i more or less played mvp 04 usin 4 seam fast ball and sliders lol could some explain what each ball does, how it deviates does it dip, swing in the air? also can someone who has mvp 05 tell me wat colours each kind of pitch is linked to. i have read that fast pitches are one colour and breaking balls are another etc... problem is since i dont know too much about these pitches i wont understand when playing the game what the pitch will do if i for example saw a green ball coming towards me. :? can some1 please hlp me with this as im trying to get a better understanding of the game. cheers all

guido
white - fastball 4/2 seam - a 4 seamer is more of a straight fastball that may dip a bit at the end. - a 2 seamer has more movement near the end, most depending on the way it's released from the pitchers hand. Also tends to be a few mph slower than the 4-seamer. red - curveball .. drops from 10 to 4. A Slider is similar expect it's faster and breaks less. green - offspeed/changeup .. looks the same as the fastball but slower. The motion from the pitcher is the same, but because the ball is placed in the back of the hand, the pitch arrives slower than normal. purple - sinker/palmball/forkball - A palmball is similar to a changeup, but is a little deeper in the hand and tends to trail off near the end of delivery. A forkball/splitfinger has a dropping affect near the end of the pitch, it's held with 2 fingers split around the ball .. or the ball is "forked" inbetween the 2 fingers. A sinker is faster - more like a slider and the ball dips at the bottom.
guido
i forgot the knuckleball -- it's a floater pitch that just dances in the air and goes really slow. It's thrown with the knuckles or fingertips press on the ball and is released with a pushing motion. It's difficult to hit because it's very slow, and the batter - or the pitcher for that matter - has no idea where it will end up. A good knuckleball can move from 3-5 ft in any direction. I'm not sure on the color because i haven't faced a knuckleballer yet
vinnycast27
ok so in the context of mvp baseball 05, would this b the correct moves .....(correct me if im wrong of course) if i see a white pitch and i think its in my hitting zone, i, should swing at it coz the ball wont devite away from the spot its heading for RED- its likely to move from left to right, as a right handed batter would see it So if i see a red ball towards the right hand side of the strike zone, its best to not swing as its likely to move in the air away from the strike zone.? GREEN- it will head for the same position as a fast ball, but its more about TimING? it wont deviate and change direction in the air. it will just go to its spot, but at a slower speed so timing is essential? PURPLE- In general all these pitches will drop/sink. So if i see a purple pitch heading towards the top of my strike-zone, its likely to drop/sink and land in the middle of the strike-zone/bottom of strike zone? so its only advised to swing at a pitch if its near the top of the strike zone coz its likely to drop. RIGHT, i think thats all the colours u mentioned.....would my analysis be right when apply these pitches to mvp 05 (when batting) r my methods right?
