LetsGoOakland
Hold off on the downloads until we figure out what went wrong because it is apparent that it is not my rosters causing games to crash.
LetsGoOakland
I should be able to put out a version 1.1 with a few player stats in for those who are stat freaks like me. SF
pet1
There are a lot of errors. When I did an error check, lots of lineups were incomplete. Just thought I'd let you know. It causes problems in the game.
zackotronic
yea i was gonna say that too.
LetsGoOakland
Yeah, I know there are errors. It's not for use right "out of the box." It's a work in progress. Well, I finished the stats for the scabs. Version 2.0 will have lineups filled for us but maybe not accurate. If you want, you can edit the lineups in MVPedit yourself. Won't take long, I just posted it right before bed without doing the lineups. Getting teams under their requirement took forever. SF
LetsGoOakland
Here's something some roster modders would like to know about if they don't already. When making guys that do not have Major League experience or haven't played in the league in a while, try finding out their 2005 MLE (Major League equivalency). According to baseball-almanac.com, the forumla is not disclosed so finding someone's projections are your best bet. Here's a stat line for 1B Roberto Petagine: Petagine, Roberto - 2005 ZiPS Projection -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -AB--R----H-----2B--3B--HR---RBI--BB---SO--SB--BA---OBP---SLG -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 362--64--102--19---0---14---62---65---80---1--.282--.397--.450 (source: http://www.baseballthinkfactory.org/files/...iscussion/26169)
pet1
Yeah, thanks for the info. It will come in handy. Don't take what I said as negative. I was just telling you so people are aware of that before they copy it to their data folder replacing everything. That way modders can work accordingly when they open it. LambentMaterial
I found a major bug with the dat update! You can't save in Owner Mode. Yeah, I tried saving in Owner Mode and the game just completely crashed.
KenDammit
make that three that have crashed. Thank God its not something I can't change, though :)
LetsGoOakland
The new version will have lineups and such fixed. That's all I have to do with it now. All the scabs and their stats are in the file I have on my computer. I had forgotten to include that they were for others to maintain their own until I got a completed version out. pet1 - no worries, I didn't take it as a negative. Thanks for the info otherwise I would have completely forgotten to fix the lineups for version 2.0's release.
zackotronic
the whole crashing is the cause of using MVPedit. It happened to me after using MVPedit to fix my rosters.
Kane182
the whole crashing is the cause of using MVPedit. It happened to me after using MVPedit to fix my rosters. Nope, it's incomplete lineups that are crashing the game. :)
zackotronic
i'm pretty sure its not, because i imported the original data and changed kevin millar, and that caused a crash.
pet1
It is in fact incomlete lineups. I know this for sure. I've ran tests. Played with complete linueups and all good. Non-complete lineups. Random crashes in the game. It has nothing to do with mvpedit. All lineups need to be completed or it WILL cause problems.
zackotronic
no its not. I know for a fact. All i've done is imported the original data, changed Kevin Millars name, and exported. and i get crashes when i try to save in owners mode.
pet1
Check for errors in mvpedit.
zackotronic
i did and no errors were found. You can can edit your roster and import it and start a new owner mode and then save it?
tolcou15
i did have the dat update that is in question i go trid of it when i heard there was a possible problem. i then got the roster from kerm and i did some edits to it using mvpedit and i still cannot save in owner mode and even when i finish a game in owner mode it just crashes, so i believe the problem lies somewhere in mvpedit. olyrunner
tolcou, have you tried importing the original .dat files (unmodded), making your changes, and then exporting and playing and saving with those? I wonder if it's some sort of compatibility issue. SF's rosters I believe were converted from the 2004 .mbe that he was working on. And Kerm uses a different editor. I just thought maybe it would be worth a try just starting with the original files that were installed, just to test it.
LetsGoOakland
Mine were not from 2004. When I downloaded the 2005 QR, it does not open the 2004 files anymore.
olyrunner
SF, no worries, I was thinking you used the converter thingamajiggy to transfer your 2004 .mbe to 2005. Anyway, the main question that I had was whether or not anyone had tried to just take the original .dat files, edit them in MVPedit, export them back, and then play and save their dynasty/owner game. I just thought that was a good starting point to troubleshoot.
