Player Detail stuck at Low

Will a verto geforce 4 ti 4200 run the game on a high detail setting without direct X 9?

I was running the game fine on a comp with a similar card. It's a ti4200, but I don't remember the mfr.

It was smooth sailing, until I installed KC's unis on it. I am still trying to figure it out. It's actually a friends computer, but I can get you the other stats on the computer the next time I'm over there.

I'm thinking about upgrading slightly from a geforce mx with 64 mb to the geforce 4 ti 4200 with 128mb. Because my player detail levl is stuck on low, but I don't want the direct x to be problem, I thought the game required direct x 9

I'm trying to decide between 2 lower-quality cards myself....which one would you guys suggest: ?

-GeForce FX 5200

I have used both in the past and I really liked the TI4200 better. It ran alot more games with no problems and smoother then the FX 5200 card. I have a TI 4200 and TI 4600 with DVI and S-Video output, both are for sale if anyone needs a good card...cheap.

that's exactly where my detail settings went wacko too, right after the uni mods were installed. not blaming it on them, i'm blaming the game. even after a fresh install w/out any mods it's still greyed out. what a waste. oh well, i guess i'll deal with it when there's a little more time.

has anyone tried rolling back from dx9.0c to see if this makes a diference?

I'm playing with a Ti4200 and everything on high, except crowd density, it's at medium...I can't install KC's uniforms though, the high res textures slow my framerates too much...it's borderline but there are times when it drops to 15 or so which is unbearable...it didn't effect my detail settings though.

see that's what's crazy, i can run all the unis etc. w/out the slightest hiccup. i don't even have any stutter on infield throws. there has to be a workaround for this. i'm not about about to drop another $150+ on a new vid card YET, this one's barely a year old. IMO not much has changed graphically from last year.

I think I'm "CPU limited" here, I'm running an old 1.1GHz Celeron (@1.466GHZ) so that's likely where my problem is.

possibly, but that's another thing that doesn't make sense. normally most games will "dump" the remaining textures etc. that the vid card can't handle into the systems memory. so in that sense you could get away with a lower end card in a higher end machine. so say you had a ati 7500 64mb- but had a p4 3.0 w/ 1 gig of ram, (friends machine that is having the same prob), you should be able to adjust textures. if a machine can run the unis and mods, without glitches or framerate issues, then obviously it would be able to handle the player textures. this isn't turning out to be the case.

looking at the game files there is no ini file. the texture settings look like they would be in the save folder stored in my docs. anyone here know how to work this, that would probably be the easy fix.

hey spitoon, that ti 4200 does it have 128 or 64 mb of ram? it is agp as well correct? let me know. looks like i'll have to scrape up some cash, but i may have found some fairly cheap. last time i'll by a refurbd vid card.

BTW i sent you a pm earlier just delete its void.

Yeah, 128MB AGP card...the 8XAGP one because it's clocked faster...I've actually got it clocked like a Ti4600...

how did you determine whether or not your mobo would work w/ the 8x? not all 8x vid cards are back compatible- due to volatge issues (.8v vs. 1.5v) . i'm assuming from what you said about your pc that the agp aperture is 2/4x.

thanks for the file btw, no luck though. i've given in. unless they make a patch which i doubt although it seems like a lot of people are pissed. i'm looking at a fx550 around $80, looks like a reasonably cheap solution i guess. it'll have towait for a few weeks though.

I have also bit the bullet and am upgrading, ordered a new Radeon 9600 Pro yesterday from NewEgg, and picked up another 512 mb or RAM since I might have been a little light in that area as well (had 256). Should have it by the end of the week... this better solve my low player detail problems (as well as make the game run superfly smooth).

Have a look at the forums at www.guru3d.com

The Ti 4200 is a better card than the FX 5200.....only the heating/fan show the difference is power ;)

Not saying the fx 5200 is a bad card, but there are really powerful drivers on that site for the 4ti cards.

are you sure it's the 128 or the 64mb version i see there are 2 version of the card. i thought that would be a cheap alternative... maybe not.

e-Vga Nvidia GeForce FX5200 128mb on Forceware 7.5.9.0 beta drivers...

had it for nearly 2 years now.

Although I installed the mods before I played the game so I don't know if it was changeable or not before the mods.

The Ti would be better, I've used the FX5200 for over a year and has worked very well, also some games require you to have a DX9 compatible card in order for them to work properly, so the FX would be better in this case. But if you have no such game go with the Ti.
